workstation machines. All the configurations are done including SUP role,WSUS etc. After running the ADR, none of the patches are downloading except blank folders are created without any content. Watch the ruleengine.log ,Log is full with Red color. Failed to download the update from internet. Error = 12007 Failed to download ContentID 16836868 for UpdateID 16845701. Error code = 12007 Using trace tool, look for the error description (ctrl+L: Error Lookup) Error 12007 sccm 2012 failed to download content id error access is denied translates to “The server name or address could not be resolved Source: Winhttp” Server did not have Access to MS to download the content or could be of proxy issues. By default, the Local System account for the server on which an automatic deployment rule was created is used to connect to the Internet and download software updates when the automatic deployment rules run. When this account does not have access to the Internet, software updates fail to download and the following entry is logged to ruleengine.log: Failed to download the update from internet. Configure the credentials to connect to the proxy server when the Local System account does not have Internet access from TechNet http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712312.aspx couple of options to fix this issue: 1.You can either set the proxy to use in SUP role when downloading content with ADR with account: OR 2.Open Internet Explorer with System Account and set the right proxy (I Prefer this method and it hides the information about proxy 🙂 ) How to run Cmd prompt as Local System Account http://verbalprocessor.com/2007/12/05/running-a-cmd-prompt-as-local-system/ From cmd,Open Iexplore.exe file and set the proxy from IE Tools-->Connections—LAN settings OR 3. still new when it comes SCCM and Shavlik Patch so please bear with me. Currently we are running SCCM 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 R2. Currently I'm trying to deploy Adobe Flash 15.0.0.189 for IE, Google Chrome 38.0.2125.111, http://eskonr.com/2012/12/sccm-configmgr-2012-adr-software-updates-fail-to-download-updates-error-12007/ and Java 7u72. I am able to publish these updates, and they come up in Software Updates. But after putting them into a Software Update Group and trying to deploy the group it gives me: "Failed to download content id 16811656. Error: There was an error downloading the software update. (404)", Now I know typically 404 is not found, so does this mean that it cannot reach whatever servers it pulls these updates from? Or maybe that https://community.shavlik.com/thread/447911 it cannot find the software in the Deployment Package (Which shouldn't it download if it cannot find)?Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!Thank you. 6156Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. If set to download from internet, then yes this would indicate that SCCM is unable to properly reach the download site. Are you using a proxy or firewall that might be interfering with the download? This is the most common cause for such issues. You may just need to enter exceptions so you're able to download from vendor sites. We do have a full list here:URL Exception list for Shavlik Patch for Microsoft System CenterI hope this helps. 2012 Issue: I tried to download updates creating a new Software Update Package using a remote SCCM console. SCCM created a folder for the first update under the Package Source folder, but could https://777notes.wordpress.com/2012/09/27/sccm-2012-software-update-download-failed-with-error-there-was-an-error-downloading-the-software-update-12029/ not download content – failed with ERROR: There was an error downloading the software update. (12029) Resolution: I checked PatchDownloader.log located in %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp\3 folder and found the error saying the content cannot be downloaded from Microsoft Update site. There is a proxy in the environment. I set proxy settings in IE and content was downloaded successfully. Note: There is a Proxy Settings in properties of Software Update failed to Point in SCCM. Do not forget to set it up if there is no direct connection to Microsoft Update sites from your SCCM SUP. This settings affects SUP/Microsoft synchronization process only! To download Software Update Content you have to have proxy configured in IE on the machine you use to run the SCCM console. At least that solve the issue for me. I got lucky and decided to search the registry for my proxy because I cleared it out of everywhere I could think of. Sure enough I found it in a SMS reg key. Then I cleared it and and now my ADR's are working correctly. I had to put my servers on a different vlan so they have a direct connection now, no proxy but oh well at least they work. Reply SCCM BOFH June 30, 2015 at 10:06 am I had this exact problem and sure enough, setting the proxy in IE on the workstation used to run the SCCM console worked - thanks. Reply Anna September 25, 2015 at 5:09 am I had the same problem and the proxy settings in IE on the site server made a difference. Thanks. Reply Okan May 24, 2016 at 12:12 p
