onto the one that we hope to release live soon. As part of this package, we make use of Uber-Uploader and experienced no problems with the dev server, which was set up identically to the soon-to-be-live configuration. However, I kept getting a "Failed to find flength file" error on the new server. I first consulted the page from Uber Uploader entitled Flength File Help "Failed To Find Flength File." That was clearly not the problem--I did not even have the mod_security module for Apache configured. I then ended up in a discussion forum http://phpmotion.com/forum/index.php?topic=495.0 related to the XUpload solution. Still no joy, though looking back, some people may have been on the right track, just not able to clearly communicate the solution. In short, it was a file permissions issue. As most of you reading these words probably know, Linux has file permission settings and your Perl/CGI uploader script needs to chmod-ed to 755 or similar--it needs to be http://mrrena.blogspot.com/2009/10/failed-to-find-flength-file-uber.html fully executable, in other words. No doubt the same issue would be true of an MS server with permissions set as well. Don't know how to set script permissions? Most FTP programs offer that functionality, including the open-source program FileZilla--right click the Perl upload file, as shown below, and set your permissions to fully executable: Posted by Eric Knickerbocker at 3:13 PM Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: chmod, failed to find flength file error uber-uploader, xupload 13 comments: kahriman7:54 AMThank you very much. I don't guarantee that I can help you even now, but I've got three ideas for you try.First, have you tried the mod_security solution linked in the second paragraph? If that didn't help, could it be a permissions issue on the directory itself so that it does not allow for reading and writing to files (in this case
per the instruction of the vijay sir,and am thanking him to assign me this topic to work. I was assigned by him to work on a document regarding the topic “Failed to find the f length file:common ways of fixing”.Am able to https://linuxnlenux.wordpress.com/2013/08/11/failed-to-find-the-flength-errorcommon-ways-of-fixing/ get the information from the training class provided by Ravi sir, also I could collect some details from google. The topic about a common error :failed to find the flength file”,Which is occurred when we upload a video https://support.apthost.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=691 in the site. What is Failed to find Flength file error _________________________________________ This is the common error that we could see while we try to upload videos in our video site.Mostly the error has failed to been ooccured regarding the CGI_BIN directory or the uu_upload.pl which is a perl file. Even we could see the video file is uploaded and converted, this flength error is occured because of using the progress bar.The error will not be there if we disable the progress bar. But to be a user friendly video website,we have to enable the progress bar. Where We can check the file upload ___________________________________________________ When we upload failed to find an video if we check the temp file under /tmp we could see the temp files(for eg:123456.tmp) dump into the dir /tmp one by one. The flength file regards with total file size of the video we upload. There will be the file in the /tmp dir uploading in a cgi file name (for eg:cgitemp1234),the file cgitemp1234 varys as the file uploads. If we upload multiple files then there will be multiple cgitemp123 files inside the temp. /tmp/325d7d52d78083839d4f9ced94821695/flength /tmp/325d7d52d78083839d4f9ced94821695/CGItemp3984 /tmp/325d7d52d78083839d4f9ced94821695/CGItemp3985 /tmp/325d7d52d78083839d4f9ced94821695/CGItemp3986 The progress bar reads the total file size from the Flength file,as the /tmp file increase in size it will check it with the flength file. Now Let us check what are the common cause of this error ____________________________________________________ These are some of the reasons for getting these errors. 1.You have not uploaded the files in the /cgi-bin/ in ASCII mode. 2.You have not set the correct permissions on the the files in the /cgi-bin/ (all should be CHMOD to 755) 3.The /temp directory will be in the path where we dont have the permission to access 4.In some servers for eg:(OS X server) where the performance caching(Write-caching) is enabled, which prevents writing out the flength file or the entire CGITemp file during the upload. The flength file or the
