The problem was discussed here: http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/2/23/195 Solution here: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ide/16304 But this had come back again in this release. It's most likely a upstream bug again. of I\O error and then a bunch of numbers. like this...ish I/O error 690238428 (numbers made up not from actual screen) I/O error 690238923 (also made up... though im pretty sure it always starts with 6) It happens sometimes when i shut down normaly and almost always when i power down useing the button on the laptop. If I push the button again the only thing that happens is 2 more lines with I/O error (numbers) pop up. This is usually happening when i try to shut down the computer because its being slow and unresponsive. Programs shut down or https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9706 need to be shut down that sort of thing. I dont shut down my laptop like that unless it wont shut down in the first place. And more importaintly it doesnt even shut down when i press the button for 5 seconds. h2g2bob (d-j-batley) said on 2009-01-31: #4 Can you get the actual error from /var/log/syslog? hardy takes very long time to boot compared to the previous installed gutsy. Examination of the dmesg output shows that there appears to be a problem https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-787690.html with the ata drive identification.
