I just picked up my copy of FEAR 2 today at my local EB games while I was at work and couldn't wait to come home and play it. BUT! that's right you guessed it! I http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/932145-fear-2-project-origin/48086524 have a problem. Once the installation finished I tried to fire it up, my steam said it was updating. It took about 5 seconds to up date and then it appeared that the game was loading when I heard the oh-so familiar "ding". When I minimized the black screen I got an error saying "Failed to initialize client - Unknown Error" I know, very helpful eh? Has anyone else had problems with the same error? I've also read a few posts about deleting the videos but I didn't see anyone mention anything about a connection to it with this error. Any help would be great, I want to play my new game QQUser Info: rob316gold2rob316gold2 8 years ago#2you said that it was loading through steam? that there is the problem. I kept failed to getting the error so I uninstalled it and removed the folder. While I was reinstalling it, I got an error saying "FEAR_00.arch couldn't find the specified path," or something along those lines (I'll check again to see what the exact error was). I just wanted to see what I could do with the level editor, what with the multiplayer maps that are already being made right now, I figured I failed to initialize might take a look at it and possibly try to contribute… that was, until I ran into this problem, which I doubt will be resolved; I thought it would still be worth asking you guys though. May 4, 2013 at 6:13 pm #4175 HaaHMember Okay, I found the solution. The folder needs to be installed in the default directory, with the other folders there. If you moved your Sierra folder to somewhere else, and try to install your FEAR Public tools in that moved folder, you'll get errors and it won't work. May 4, 2013 at 6:31 pm #4176 =MXT=Fred.cppKeymaster Thanks for the info! May 4, 2013 at 6:45 pm #4178 HaaHMember Well, it managed to install completely (possibly not correctly, as evident of what I'm going to explain), but now when I open the Dev exe, I get an error I've never gotten before, an unidentified one, according to the game. "Failed to initialize client - unknown error." Even the game doesn't know what the hell is going on. Apparently it just doesn't want to work anymore; with no doubt, I'm not going to be using the editor in the near, or far, future, since it seems like the tools themselves have been trying their hardest to no
