All Im struggling to get password remediation working with Connectra. SSL is working. Active Directory users can log in. When password is about to https://www.cpug.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-14797.html expire we get the notification and the option to change, however http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7002006 it will not let us change it. Windows logs show successful login so im stumped! Any ideas where to start looking? Many Thanks ShadowPeak.com2010-11-30, 11:50I'm assuming your Connectra is centrally managed from a SmartCenter. Almost all LDAP integrations I've seen are read-only, and I've failed to seen the password remediation process fail due to a lack of write permission. On your Account Unit object in SmartDashboard, make sure that "write data to this server" is checked on all LDAP servers defined for that AU. Also verify the permissions on the Login DN account specified; it will need to have write permission allowed failed to modify on your LDAP server. To isolate whether it is a Login DN permissions issue try temporarily using the Administrator account, reinstall policy to the security gateway, and attempt a password remediation. EJSTL2010-12-01, 19:14Not trying to hijack the thread just sharing some experience here; I'm having a similar problem though I'm confident it's not a permission issue. I have read/write enabled on the AU and am running over SSL. I have even ran the update_schema script to extend the schema on my DC. I can authenticate AD users and browse the tree so I know that's all working fine, just the remediation is still not working. The end user gets an error back saying "Failed to modify password, LDAP error" (a tracker log with the same message is generated as well). Blast2011-08-03, 04:26Hi, I don't know if Your problem still exists but I've found solution in my environment. The problem was permissions of user used in Account Unit. He needs reset password priviledge on user accounts in
Favorite Rating: Error: D06B "LDAP password change failed"This document (7002006) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document. Environment GroupWise 7 Situation Change: Turned on LDAP Authentication in the GroupWise system. Symptom: Error: D06B"LDAP password change failed"Symptom: GroupWise External Entities cannot change their GroupWise passwords in the GroupWise client when the GroupWise system is setup to use LDAP authentication. Error occurs when in the GWclient, Tools, Options, Security, Password after old and new passwords are entered and OK is clicked. Resolution Steps to duplicate: 1- Make sure LDAP authentication is turned on in the post office properties, Security tab. 2- Go into the Tools, Option, Security, Password of a GW External Entity. 3- Change the password and notice the error: D06B"LDAP password change failed. 4- Problem is that there is no way for users to change their password when they are defined as External Entities with LDAP authentication turned on. Work-around would be to create NDS accounts for the non-NDS users. Also note that the passwords can be changed in ConsoleOne but not from the GroupWise client itself. Work -around If user is still present in NDS dissassociate Groupwise Attribute & associate them back. Additional Information Cause: LDAP Authentication in GroupWise is designed to use NDS passwords. Since External Entities do not have and NDS account, this does not work.
