place. I have tried all the suggested tactics of selecting show import options, changing the crop to bounding box, etc. Nothing working.I also tried to open the pdf in acrobat and export into a different format or optimize it using the pdf optimizer, but when I do that I get gobbly **** text on the pdf. See screenshots The only workaround that works is to save as a raster image. But this is incredibly time consuming. I also pdf repair tool tried importing these same files into Indesign cs 4 and I get the same errors. I am wondering if this is a system wide issue. Any ideas or suggestions? I noticed all these pdf were created using cs4 and above. Not sure if this helps. I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 8580Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Perhaps I'll give that a try tomorrow. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Here's what I think happens: You placed a PDF with Import Options showing so you could select a different crop meth

The only work around I've found so far was to disable Unicode support and use a built-in font (Times, Helvetica, Courier). So ... not much of a work around. dompdf member PhenX commented Dec 6, 2012 From eclecticgeek on July 05, 2012 21:50:00 To outline the issue I am attaching two PDFs created from the same text. One is from Word printed to PDF using distiller, the other is from dompdf. (Text taken from this post on StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/q/11
March 21, 2011 Using Mac Preview as a Workaround when Acrobat Pro Won't Open a PDF File I recently had a problem file that was submitted to me by a http://documentgeek.blogspot.com/2011/03/using-preview-as-workaround-when.html client. When I tried to place the PDF into InDesign, I got https://groups.google.com/d/topic/adobe.indesign.macintosh/vnTQb_Vxq2o the following error message: "Failed to open the PDF file." So I decided to try to open the file in Acrobat to investigate what might be wrong. But instead Acrobat opening the file, I got the following message: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged failed to and could not be repaired." I decided to try an alternative to Acrobat. For certain tasks, I like to use Apple's Preview software. So just out of curiosity, I wanted to see if Preview would save the day for me as it has on several other occasions. So, I opened the same file in Preview and it opened without any problem whatsoever. I failed to open saved it with a different name and then imported the file into InDesign. Out of curiosity, I checked out the file in Acrobat. All the fonts were embedded properly, and everything checked out properly from a prepress-standpoint. I'm not sure what the problem was, but it sure is good to know that I have a workaround to rescue problematic PDF files when they don't want to open.
