Is your database started? What are you trying to achieve? –Jens Hoffmann Nov 20 '10 at 12:40 My database is started but i am unable to start the listener. –sdsds Nov 21 '10 at 4:48 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Usually it's something like the port is already being used by another process. The database doesn't have to be running to start the listener so that wouldn't cause it to fail. Posting the end of the log would make it clear. share|improve this answer answered Nov 20 '10 at 22:33 JOTN 4,65811621 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote I ran into the same issue when I rebuilt a database server. Another possibility, specific to windows, is a registry setting is incorrect. In my case, it was as simple as TNS_ADMIN pointing to the wrong location. share|improve this answer answered May 5 '11 at 17:19 Mark 111 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
