Comment 3 William Kenney 2012-11-20 03:04:32 CET (In reply to comment #2) > maybe time to obsolete this package.. The official webmin forum looks to be very active. I was understanding that webmin is a widely used remote tool for Linux. I use only a small part of it, not as a remote admin device. It won't kill me if it went away. Your in charge. Comment 4 Manuel Hiebel 2012-11-20 19:16:40 CET well I speak in mga as there is nobody behind Comment 5 William Kenney 2013-01-19 17:34:23 CET I am going to change this to resolved as Webmin is doing just fine in Cauldron ( Mageia 3 ) right now. How To Access Webmin
I've made (from within webmin's panel) the webmin fails to start. I restart webmin don't know what version was this, the last one, I've updated it a few days ago - I always webmin exploit do this when, in the webmin's panel, a new update is available. So, now I restart the server but webmin is not starting. I do have access to SSH and https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8155 when I try to restart/stop webmin it says the port is in use. Now, if I do a netstat command I find out that my main domain is using the webmin's port. So, how can I fix this? Why is my domain.com using the webmin's port? Thank you! To fix that, you can try the following: Stop webmin with: /etc/init.d/webmin stop Look for a running Webmin process: ps auxw | grep miniserv | grep webmin Use the "kill" command to kill any processes you find Start up Webmin with: /etc/init.d/webmin start After doing that, does it start up for you? -Eric Log in or register to post comments #3 Fri, 08/12/2011 - 14:03 (Reply to #2) fade2gray I had the same problem. I think I have http://www.webmin.com/faq.html found a bug in Webmin! First of all, try upgrading to the latest version. Many bugs in older releases are fixed in the latest version. The second place to check is the Webmin updates page, on which bugfixes for the current version are posted. The easiest way to install all the latest updates is to use the second and third forms on the Webmin Modules page in the Webmin failed to Configuration module. If you really have found a new bug, go to the bug tracking system page to report it. How do I change my Webmin password if I can't login? Included with the Webmin distribution is a program called changepass.pl to solve erecisely this problem. Assuming you have installed Webmin in /usr/libexec/webmin, you could change the password of the admin user to foo by running /usr/libexec/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin admin failed to open foo What effect will Webmin have on my existing configuration files? Just installing Webmin will not cause any config file changes to be made. When you start to use it, only the config files related to the changes that you make in Webmin will be modified. For example, using the Apache Webserver module would not effect your Sendmail configuration. My browser reports Document contains no data after turning on SSL If you are using SSL, make sure you connect to a URL like https://myhost:10000/ instead of http://myhost:10000.
