Not all of the Servers successfully reports their Updates and inventory status. (Discspace - unknown / Installed Software - unknown) There are nine Servers in one Location, 5 Servers are installed on VMware ESX Server and 4 are Hardware based. All Servers are Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard or Enterpride Editions (x86 and x64). Policy and Registry show the correct (WSUS) Entries for Windowsupdate (https://mySCE:8531) All (3x) x64 Servers (1x VMWare - 2x Hardware) reports nothing and the following entry in WindowsUpdate.log: [SNIP] EEHndlr WARNING: Failed to populate ServiceStartup entries in Cache: error 0x80070002 [SNIP] One Hardware based x86 Server reports nothing, too. Software Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 box as a local repository for Microsoft patches and updates. The server didn't appear in the WSUS console, so I checked out the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file on the new server and found the following error: EEHndlr WARNING: Failed to populate ServiceStartup entries in Cache: error 0x8007000 I was able to fix this error, which appeared to be caused by a corrupted Windows Update Client, by doing the following: 1) Download the most recent version of the Windows Update Client. You can find the links to the appropriate version in the wuredist.cab file available from Microsoft. Computer with windows2003server(x64) has problem. WSUS console sees the client, but will not offer any update. I tried to delete a directory %windir%/softwaredistribution and the following registry entries: SusClientId, SusClientIDValidation in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate, reinstall windowsupdateagent, re-registered regsvr32 %windir%\syswow64\wups2.dll.
