I'm having the problem of getting following errors in ArcServe2000; E8602 Failed to read from database (DBNAME=Individual Mailbox\Dick\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".) E8602 Failed to read from database (DBNAME=Individual Mailbox\Jan\Deleted Items, EC=Backup Agent Error (69) "Read/Write error in named pipes.".) (and this for 5 users) The strange thing it has worked for almost 2 years, no changes are made and now the problem occurs regular, now everyday. But only for 5 users and than 4 times the Calendar and 1 times the Deleted Items box. Can some body help me. Thanks for it. I am backing Exchange 5.5 w/the ARCServe 2000 Exchange Agent. While doing an exchange backup i am getting this error message "E8602 Failed to read from database --EC= Backup Agent Error --(69) Read/Write error in https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20557518/E8602-Failed-to-read-from-database-EC-Backup-Agent-Error-69-Read-Write-error-in-named-pipes.html named pipes". The things i have applied to solve this issue are as follows: 1. Uninstalled backup agent and reinstalled 2. ran SP4 after installation of backup agent 3. applied patch http://support.ca.com/Download/patches/asitnt/QO19251.html http://support.ca.com/Download/patches/asitnt/QO22840.html 4. set the usetcp value under HKLM\software\Computerassociates\ArcserveIT\dsagent\currentversion\agent\ dbaexch to 1 and then recycle backup agent RPC server 5. HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserver\parameters and verify the value of "IRPSTACKSIZE" for NT you can increase it up to 11 6. How long has it been since this started happening? Your databases could have checksum errors, and yes, they could still function, but they won't back up at all. Backup software will not backup a database with checksum errors. HTH, D 0 Message Author Comment by:mojolin2003-03-20 This problem has been occu
and figured out what the problem is-- the Backup Agent RPC Server does not elegantly handle emails featuring attachments that themselves are emails-- especially if the attached email itself has (large) attachments. http://www.yqcomputer.com/88_54480_1.htm Go to the folder identified in the job log as having generated the Read/Write error in named pipes. Sort the messages by message size (adding that to the display columns if necessary). Look for emails that http://en.mssqldatabaserepair.org/troubleshoot-read-write-error-in-ms-sql are large that have, as the attachment(s) only other emails. These are almost certainly your culprits. You can delete these emails if they are not needed, or you can drag the email attachments to the folder (so failed to they are maintained) and manually copy all of the text in the outermost mail to a new mail item (so it is also maintained) and then delete the offending mail. Then delete them again from the deleted items folder (lest it start failing the backup). If you have deleted item retention turned on, this will probably continue to be a problem until the retention period expires-- but if you are using this feature failed to read along with brick backups, well, that is probably overkill. I also agree with all those who said not to be using brick level backups, for the reasons they said. However, I also realize that sometimes we are not given the option of changing the procedures that might have been put into place previously. (I realize this was a dead topic, but there are some poor slobs who might be stuck with antiquated software. Like me.)
