Wfcrun32 Error Failed To Set Event Logging Fix
Event Logging message on Windows 7 Started by Mark Mears , 09 October 2012 - 04:22 PM Login to Reply 4 replies to this topic Mark Mears Members #1 Mark Mears 3 posts Posted 09 October 2012 - 04:22 PM This is probably an old issue but one that has been killing me. I am trying to develop a package failed to set event logging message for enterprise deployment. I am logged onto a Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise machine as a low-rights user and installing the Citrix Receiver 13 (CitrixReceiver.exe version13.1.201.3) using a different (elevated) account from an elevated command prompt. I cannot suppress the dialog that reports "Failed to set Event Logging" about midway through the installation. There is not failure of the application to install, but the dialog box remains up and must be cleared by the user clicking OK. Our users will be logged into their workstations during the deployment and the installation needs to require NO interaction and be completely silent. What I've tried:- Used command line switches on the EXE file to get it to run silently - gets the dialog box- Extracted the individual MSI files and installed singly - gets the dialog box- Used the DONOTSTARTCC=1 command line property to suppress the dialog - still gets the dialog boxWatching Task Manager (Show processes from all users selected) I see the WFCRUN32 process (which has been identified with this dialog) running in the low-rights user's context. From my research o

WFCRUN32 - Failed to Setup Event Logging Started by ERICK GONZALEZ , http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/314627-failed-to-set-event-logging-message-on-windows-7/ 05 April 2007 - 07:24 PM Login to Reply 16 replies to this topic ERICK GONZALEZ Members #1 ERICK GONZALEZ 5 posts Posted 05 April 2007 - 07:24 PM I am testing deploying the new 10.0 client using Active Directory and it works great. The only issue is when the user attempts to connect the very first time to a connection, they get the http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/88181-wfcrun32-failed-to-setup-event-logging/ "WFCRUN32 Error : Failed to Setup Event Logging" error. We are using mandatory profiles so maybe it needs rights to a certain directory. Anyone come acorss this error before? 1363-88181-588331 Back to top Thomas Julin Members #2 Thomas Julin 1 posts Posted 17 April 2007 - 08:54 AM I've been having the same problem, and it started when we switched over from 9.2 to 10.0. In my appserv.ini files I have the line "LogFileWin32=%TEMP%\WFClient.log". The use of the Windows set variable %TEMP% did not generate an error in 9.2, but it does in 10.0. If I switch to a constant path like "C:\WFClient.log", it starts with no error message.I work with a lot of applications that all have their own appserv.ini file. Is there any way to make %TEMP% work again, as it would really take a lot of time to change all the appserv.ini files? 1363-88181-591510 Back to top Kris Kuszynski Members #3 Kris Kuszynski 2 posts Posted 27 December 2007 - 09:40 PM I had the same problem but the solution was a little different. Wfcrun32 Error - Failed to set Event Logging Started by Eric Lominac , 26 December 2007 - 09:07 PM Login to Reply 5 replies to this topic Best Answer Alan Osborne , 30 January 2008 - 06:49 AM Hi, In Explorer's Folder Options, what program is associated with the ICA file type? It failed to set should be as follows: "C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client\wfica32.exe" "%1" I'm wondering if perhaps your problem clients associations are set to wfcrun32.exe instead. Also, try granting the locals users group on an affected workstation modify and write perms to the folder "C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client" Cheers, Alan Osborne President VCIT Consulting - providing Small and Medium businesses with a complete virtual computer system - delivered over the web and available wherever you go. web: www.vcit.ca blog: www.vcit.ca/wordpress Go to the full post
Eric Lominac Members #1 Eric Lominac 10 posts Posted 26 December 2007 - 09:07 PM We have two farms in my environment. One of them is XPe, and we've just rolled out the 10.1 client in preparation for moving apps to our new 4.5 farm. Some users are reporting the error in the subject line when connecting to the XPe farm. They can click "OK" and continue without incident, but find the error off-putting. Also, we ONLY use the web-client in our environment, so I wouldn't think thatmay want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!A message box may appear titled "WFCRUN32 ERROR", with the message being "Failed to set Event Logging." as per the following screenshot: it's related to the LogFileWin32 setting in the APPSRV.INI that points to the location of the log file. For Example: LogFileWin32=C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\ICAClient\wfcwin32.log The APPSRV.INI is found in the user's "%APPDATA%\ICAClient" folder. The wfcrun32.exe process is unable to create the wfcwin32.log because either the location is invalid, or the user does not have write permissions to that folder. Either update the file or delete the folder and it will recreate what it needs.
