I'm not a networking expert so bear with me if this super obvious. One of the answers from this post suggested using CNTLM. I installed and configured it per this other post, but running cntlm.exe -c cntlm.ini -I -M http://google.com gave the error Connection to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14149422/using-pip-behind-a-proxy proxy failed, bailing out. I also tried pip install -–proxy=user:pass@localhost:3128 (the default CNTLM port) but that raised Cannot fetch index base URL http://pypi.python.org/simple/. Clearly something's up with the proxy. Does anyone know how to check more definitively whether CNTLM is set up right, or if there's another way around this altogether? I know you can also set the http_proxy environment variable as described here but I'm not sure what credentials to put in. The ones from cntlm.ini? Thanks! python proxy pip share|improve this question edited Jan 10 '15 at 13:37 David X 1,82511626 asked Jan 4 '13 at 0:22 Jura 2,80762845 1 You need to know the IP address of your proxy and port number and set it accordingly in your cntlm.ini (Also your username and password for the proxy if you have one) –number5 Jan 4 '13 at 1:58 1 I wrote a blog on how to setup and use CNTLM. The post is for Ubuntu and for installing Rails, but I think the process might be the same. Edit: Read this article on how to setup CNTLM for Windows, basically same with my Ubuntu version. This is irritating because TeX cannot automatically download and install new packages on the fly. I think it might be a issue specific to our server, might have to get IT in. –Jonny May 12 '14 at 12:40 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote In the connection settings window where you can select the proxy server to use, write the URL of the proxy server but without the http:// in the beginning. At least this worked for me ! share|improve this answer answered Jul 31 '14 at 8:55 SteveSt 1512 Removing the http:// is what made it work for me. days ago. Now, any patch that is deployed in a package doesnt get deployed to the clients. If I check the reports, and look at report name Compliance 6 - Specific computer and check the updates against my own machine, all of the updates no longer have an astrix under the approved column, but they do all have deadlines and are listed as is required. The UpdatesDeployment log shows the evaluation for the assignments and comes back with Total visible updates = 0.No errors in any of the windowsupdate logs or the wuahandler etcI have reinstalled the SUP and wsus already.
