Peter M Nov 21, 2012 5:40 PM (in response to fradman) I moved this provisionally from Home and Home Office products to Encryption: EEM Managed for better attention as I think people here https://community.mcafee.com/thread/50163?tstart=0 will know what you are talking about. Re: Fatal error - how to fix? fradman Nov 21, 2012 6:41 PM (in response to fradman) Thank you Safeboot. When I called HP I read them the error messgae but they never said it could be their software! I even told them that I knew I never put any McAfee product on the machine. Their only direction was to recover the drive which I do not want to do. I will go back at them again now - thanks. In other words, as soon as you pressed Shift, you would see 20-30 asterisks. You would not see this behavior when using the built in laptop keyboard. McAfee's Resolution #1 = McAfee advised us to upgrade from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3. That upgrade disabled the Shift key, so now there is no Shift key functionality with an external keyboard. Issue # 2 = Black/Blank Screen. Reported to McAfee = Friday 02/21/2014 Two techs were issued Dell 7440's after 1 to 2 days of usage, after logging into PBA, machine boots to a black screen, windows never loads, hard drive activity light strobes. Another tech built 2 7440 laptops, both presented black screen. I had him reimage, after reimaging they presented black screen again. McAfee's Resolution #2 = No fix as of yet from McAfee. Issue # 3 = Internal Initialization Error. Reported to McAfee = Friday 02/21/2014 When user's attempt to log into PBA, they are presented with a File Initialization Error. As a work around, you are able to perform an emergency boot using a McAfee EETech USB key. However this is only a work around, it will resolve that issue, however you can recreate the issue by attempting to log in at PBA, enter bad password, power off laptop while the warning is still present that your password is bad. Error EE0F0001 Failed to authenticate. Power on laptop, enter user name, you will see the error of "Fatal Error: [0xEE000007] Internal initialization" McAfee's Resolution #3 = No fix as of yet from McAfee. Issue #4 = EPE bad xml exception error. Reported to McAfee = Monday 02/24/2014 Have seen this on 2 to 3 machines, a tech delivered a Dell 7440 to a user he put the laptop in the dock to set up
