When I try to open any application such as gedit, I get the following error over and over again: GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. You don't need to open a terminal window on that machine.
