Try the disk in a different drive. If you think the disk is defective, take it back to the store that you bought it at. Most will exchange it for another box of the same game. http://www.steampowered.com/ I must have the DVD version, cause I only have 1 disk. Have you tried the Steam/Valve web site? Usually the developers web site will have a Forum to read, search, and post these kinds of problems. Check for an FAQ section. And finally if all else fails, recommend that you email the Tech Support people. I've had to email other companies on games before and have gotten pretty good responses back. hope this helps. Hello Steam users! I've been trying to install Half Life 2: Episode Two for a week now, I keep getting the error "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request" I thought maybe the servers actually were busy but it's been a week failed to now, I also get this error when I do the install from my CD/DVD as I have the Orange Box. But I can download and install other games just fine, Just not Episode 2 of Half Life 2 rather frustrating. I've tried to contact Steam support twice with no success. I've also tried the following to solve my problem: Changing download region/country. Disabling Steam Cloud system. Using another computer. Using another computer on another network. Disabling Anti Virus programs / Firewalls. Reinstalling Steam. failed to load Deleting the clientregistry file thingy. Running Steam in some compability modes. Deleting all the files except for the Steam.exe. Renaming the 'steamapps' folder. But still, "Steam servers are currently to busy to handle your request" Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance! Cheers. Don't know if it will work but you can try. Though it would mean having to reinstall all the games you currently have installed. The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'.... According to my copy of the DVD this file is in hl25.cab!! Anyone any ideas? dan13l16-11-2004, 12:33I just posted in the other thread, didn't see this one. I've downloaded mine on Steam, but my dad has just phoned me because he gets the same error... The SteamPowered.Com forums are down at the moment, so can't check on there...I'll keep digging and see what I can find. It could, of course, be a bad disc? Where did yours come from? bumfrog16-11-2004, 12:41you could try copying the install files drom the dvd to the hard drive and running it from there.... karellen16-11-2004, 12:42Got it from PCWorld. I have found another mention of the same problem in another forum but he has not replied how he actually fixed it - hl2.ico1 error (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51445) ShakeyJake16-11-2004, 12:43If you have a fast connection maybe you could put in the cd key in the "Register a product I already own..." thing, then download the files off steam dan13l16-11-2004, 12:47That thread has a bit more info in now - looks like you need to install CS:Source as well, otherwise it doesn't work... karellen16-11-2004, 12:54Just read that new info: I had also unticked the CS:Source installation. Reinstalling now....................... *fingers crossed* EDIT: Sorted - waiting on Steam now. dan13l16-11-2004, 12:58*fingers crossed* Do let us know how it goes :) Good luck! LeftHandedGuitarist16-11-2004, 13:08I had exact same problem, re-installed with Counter Strike selected and all worked well. Now I entered my CD key and got a pop up message saying: "Your subscription to Half Life 2 Retail Standard has not been completed, because Steam servers are currently unable to process the transaction. You won't be able to play Half Life 2 Retail Standard until the subscription process is complete. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. T
