noticed Unity was incredibly slow. I hadn't rebooted in a while, so I'm not sure what package caused the issue, though I'm guessing it is mesa (I saw i965 pci ids were ifdef'd in the Launchpad diff, but I didn't look super closely). ~/.xsession-errors has this to say: libGL error: failed

Fedora 20 graphics ssh asked 2014-06-25 01:32:23 +0000 wheels2050 11 ●1 ●1 ●2 I'm trying to run some software over an SSH https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/49306/libgl-error-in-ssh-session-on-fedora-20/ session to another computer on the local network, which is running Fedora https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2122588 20. However, I'm encountering errors relating to libGL. Note: The following only applies when I SSH to the computer - if I sit at the computer, I don't receive any errors and the software runs as expected. If I open a program that should be hardware-accelerated, I failed to encounter the following error messages: libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 The program runs extremely slowly (to the point of being basically unusable). I read elsewhere to try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, which gives me the following output: libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to failed to open load driver: i965 libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so libGL: driver does not expose __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast(): /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast libGL: Can't open configuration file ~/.drirc: No such file or directory. libGL: Can't open configuration file ~/.drirc: No such file or directory. so it appears that hardware acceleration is failing due to permissions, and then something is going wrong with software rendering. The graphics chip is an integrated Intel one - here's the relevant line from lspci: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) If it helps, the output I get from glxinfo is: name of display: localhost:23.0 libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so libGL: driver does not expose __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast(): /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast libGL: Can't open configuration file /remote/adelphi/bwhelan/.drirc: No such file or directory. libGL: Can't open configuration file /remote/adelphi/bwhelan/.drirc: No such file or directory. display: localhost:23 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes server glx ven

I configured my Ubuntu system (12.10, 64bit) so that I'm able to start any application in a separate X server. Running games or for example XBMC in a separate X server has some major advantages. I can run an application in a separate X server as follows: Code: xinit /usr/bin/xbmc -- :1 I already managed to get sound working in the separate X server. The problem I'm having now is that when I'm in the separate X server, Ubuntu seems to load the wrong video driver. When, for example, I load XBMC in the main X server all works fine. But when I execute it in a separate X server, the graphics look ugly and are very slow too. This happens on my laptop with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip (default driver). This problem does not occur on a different laptop with Ubuntu 12.10, an Nvidia GeForce G105M chip, and the proprietary Nvidia or nouveau driver. I suspect that the wrong video driver is being loaded for the separate X server. I did get some clues from the command line. The command below was executed from the second X server: Code: serrano@saibot:~$ LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose
