noticed Unity was incredibly slow. I hadn't rebooted in a while, so I'm not sure what package caused the issue, though I'm guessing it is mesa (I saw i965 pci ids were ifdef'd in the Launchpad diff, but I didn't look super closely). ~/.xsession-errors has this to say: libGL error: failed libgl error failed to open drm device permission denied libgl error failed to load driver nouveau to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-22.44-generic 3.13.8 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-22-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.1: ApportVersion: 2.14-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Apr 3 20:08:18 2014 DistUpgraded: 2013-11-04 08:48:34,282 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:215a] InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-06-28 (1010 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110425.2) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0020 Intel Corp. Libgl Error Failed To Open Drm Device Permission Denied Fedora
from the menu - it starts for the very first time when i click on the menu, then i have to failed to open drm device for null click 2 or 3 times on menu entry to start chrome again. This is not a big deal, maybe a cwm glitch. I went to start chrome from xterm, and I got these https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1302270 errors: $ chrome libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: r600 libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: r600 Is it normal, can it be fixed on my side? Fedora 20 graphics ssh asked 2014-06-25 01:32:23 +0000 wheels2050 11 ●1 ●1 ●2 I'm trying to run some software over an SSH session to another computer on the local network, which is running Fedora 20. However, I'm encountering errors relating to libGL. Note: The following only applies when I SSH to the computer - if I sit at the computer, I don't receive any errors and the software runs as expected. If I open a program that should be hardware-accelerated, I encounter the following error messages: libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 The program runs extremely slowly (to the point of being basically unusable). I read elsewhere to try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, which gives me the following output: libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/tls/swrast_dri.so libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so libGL: driver does not expose __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast(): /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driDriverGetExtensions_swrast libGL: Can't open configuration file ~/.drirc: No such file or directory. libGL: Can't open configuration file ~/.drirc: No such file or directory. so it appears that hardware acceleration is failing due to permissions, and then something is going wrong with software rendering.
