In my case the AD user was part of the local Administrators group but would still attach the mdf database as read-only despite the file having full-control access to Administrators. Giving the AD user explicit permissions to the file corrected the problem. The comment from Bryant E. Byrd below is spot on.Please consider reopening this bug.
