.sql file, namely 'metropolises.sql' that I created and saved previously from a database, the following error is displayed: Failed to open file 'metropolises.sql', error: 2 Any idea what went wrong? mysql share|improve this question edited Feb 4 '13 at 9:48 asked Feb 4 '13 at 9:46 Clueless Gorilla 3192511 1 What does it mean to "try to source for a particuar .sql file"? –Lightness Races in Orbit Feb 4 '13 at error 2 opening file bluebeam 9:51 1 Did you mean "search"? –veljasije Feb 4 '13 at 9:54 I created a table in a database. Therefore, using this resource, we can deduce that the error value of 2 means "no such file or directory". In short, you got the path wrong. Try providing an absolute path, as it's not clear what the current working directory will be in the context of your MySQL server. No File Found up vote 2 down vote favorite When I tried to source for a particular .sql file, namely 'registrar.sql', the following error is displayed: Failed to open file 'registrar.sql', error: 2 I know that this means the below error: #define ENOENT 2 /* No http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19848377/mysql-source-error-2-no-file-found such file or directory */ However, I am not sure how to be more specific as I have tried entering 'source registrar.sql' and I have tried entering the absolute path. Now it is possible I am just entering the absolute path incorrect which is where I could use some help. Here is the path in properties in windows. C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin File name is: registrar.sql Any help on this would be appreciated. mysql sql sql-server netbeans share|improve this question edited Nov 7 '13 at 23:29 Darwind 4,29522137 asked Nov 7 '13 at 22:53 user2966886 1112 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Try like this: mysql> source c:/dumps/mydatabase.sql That is, use forward slash instead of back slash share|improve this answer answered Jan 10 '14 at 15:14 D3 K 52411019 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote You need to restart mysql if you have copied file after starting mysql server. also if you have space in file or folder name you should use quotes. share|im
