If you want then you can restrict with the specified ip's. Feb 27, 2012 Messages: 5 Thanks Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Hey guys, wondering if anyone could help with a little FTP problem My setup System Information Hostname freenas.local FreeNAS Build FreeNAS-8.0.3-RELEASE-p1-x64 (9591) Platform 501 server cannot accept argument ftp error Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Memory 1777MB System Time Mon Feb 27 22:37:07 pure-ftpd privsep tls default password 2012 Uptime 10:37PM up 23 mins, 0 users Load Average 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 OS Version FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p6 My Problem I can't quite 200 type is now 8-bit binary connect to my FTP server using my external i.p., my internal i.p. works fine and lists the directories though :\ I originally tried port 21 (default) but when using a port checker tool it said it https://forums.cpanel.net/threads/ftp-connection-error-error-loading-directory.212101/ wasn't open, ISP might be blocking it. So I switched to a higher port 23235 (port checker tool confirmed that port was open). Seeming I can authenticate into the server but can't list the directories it might be a permissions problem but it quite weird how it only affects my external i.p. Thanks failed to retrieve Shahin Wednesday, October 03, 2012 8:00 AM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Hi, FTP has two modes: Active FTP and Passive FTP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ftp Active FTP is disabled by default in Forefront TMG: http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Microsoft-Forefront-TMG-FTP-and-FTP-Server-publishing.html So I don't think that you have to open more ports. They must configure their FTP client correctly to connect to your FTP Server regards Marc Grote aka Jens Baier - www.it-training-grote.de - www.forefront-tmg.de - www.nt-faq.de Wednesday, October 03, 2012 9:07 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Hi Marc, Thanks for your update, What do you mean they to configure their client correctly? what should they configure? I also reding that Passive FTP is easyer to use for client side and more work for admins on the server FTP side. except publishing the FTP in the TMG what can I configure on the TMG? ThanksShahin Wednesday, October 03, 2012 9:10 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Hi, there is nothing more to configure on the TMG Server as in the article I mentioned. If other people are able to connect to your FTP Serve
