Description Dani Megert 2006-06-20 06:26:04 EDT 3.2 RC7 and latest 3.3 I-build (I20060614-0843) 1. select any file (text, html, java, ...) in the Navigator 2. Open With > In-Place Editor ==> error dialog appears, nothing in .log. Empty editor gets opened. I'll take a look to see if I can improve the error message to make it a bit less cryptic. Comment 4 Eric Moffatt 2006-06-21 09:58:14 EDT Hmmm, on my system it eventualy opens an -empty- editor onto the file (I think that it has already constructed the site by the time we determine that we can't create the actual editor. Description Christopher Geiss 2009-03-16 10:07:37 EDT Attempting to open a .doc file results in the following error dialog: Cannot create the in-place editor Reason: this is probably because there is no OLE editor registered against the type of file you were trying to open Details: failed to create OLE client. result = -2147024891 This appears to only happen in Windows Vista and only for Word documents (ppt and xls opened fine). I got it fixed by: 1. Right click on the offending file. 2. Choosing Open With -> Default Editor. Open Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editors -> File Associations. Check if the file type (*.java) is in the list. If it's in the list, make sure the correct editor is selected as default.
