The issue may occur due to corrupted Excel driver. Please reinstall the drivers by installing 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734 Besides, please make sure to specify Excle 12.0 for the Extended Properties of failed to connect the OLE DB or Excel Connection Manager, and run the package in 32-bit runtime mode.
