Failed To Open Stream Permission Denied In Php Fopen
up vote 61 down vote favorite 34 I am new to laravel. I was trying to open http://localhost/test/public/ and I got Error in exception handler. I googled around and changed the permission of storage directory using chmod -R 777 app/storage but to no avail. I changed debug=>true in app.php and visited the page and got Error in exception handler: The stream or file "/var/www/html/test/app/storage/logs/laravel.log" could not be opened:
File_put_contents Failed To Open Stream: Permission Denied
failed to open stream: Permission denied in /var/www/html/test/bootstrap/compiled.php:8423 Then I changed the permissions of storage directory using the command chmod -R 644 app/storageand the 'Error in exception handler' error was gone and a page is loaded. But in there I am getting this: 'file_put_contents(/var/www/html/laravel/app/storage/meta/services.json): failed to open stream: Permission denied`' php exception laravel laravel-4 share|improve this question asked May 8 '14 at 11:10 vishnu_b 4671611 2 looks like permition issue again, chmod recursively all application directories –alou May 8 '14 at 11:14 @alou I think I have already done that with chmod -R 777 app/storage. Didn't I? And all the directories inside app has drwxrwxrwx permission. –vishnu_b May 8 '14 at 11:32 19 Try: php artisan cache:clear then chmod -R 777 app/storage finally php artisan dump-autoload –vsmoraes May 8 '14 at 17:23 @vsmoraes It worked. It'll be really helpful if you can explain what the problem was. –vishnu_b May 9 '14 at 3:55 @tav It's hard to know what was causing that, probably some sort of cache that was created with the error and remained there until you cleaned all the cache. Laravel also have some problems with fresh installs and requires to

I'm using a Mac and text editor is Sublime Text, and the php version is 5.5.30. This is the code I'm executing: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/35717653/php-fopen-failed-to-open-stream-permission-denied-on-a-mac This is the error generated in the browser: Warning: fopen(data/data.txt): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /Library/WebServer/Documents/php_class/class_examples/open_and_close.php on line 17 I searched online for an answer to the error and this is the solution I got to fix the problem: Open the terminal, go to the directory where the script is located and enter the following command sudo chmod 777 open_and_close.php Now I did all of this and I'm still getting the same error. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? If it says "Permission denied", then it must be a permissions problem. Read about permissions in file permissions. If you still encounter problems, it might be because your PHP is in "safe mode" and does not execute commands like "move one file to another in the server's filesystem". Check your php.ini for "safe_mode" and "safe_mode_exec_dir" and experiment with them a bit: Code: ; Safe Mode ; safe_mode = Off ; By default, Safe Mode does a UID compare check when ; opening files. If you want to relax this to a GID compare, ; then turn on safe_mode_gid. safe_mode_gid = Off ; When safe_mode is on, UID/GID checks are bypassed when ; including files from this directory and its subdirectories. ; (directory must also be in include_path or full path must ; be used when including) safe_mode_include_dir = ; When safe_mode is on, only executables located in the safe
