The library compiles fine using this command: g++ -shared -Wl,-soname,mylib -O3 -o mylib.so -fPIC [files] `pkg-config libdc1394 ubuntu install --libs --cflags opencv` However, when I try and import it using ctypes from ctypes import * mylib = CDLL("/path/to/mylib.so") print mylib.test() // Expected output: Hello World I get the following error: libdc1394 error: Failed to initialize libdc1394 What's going on? python c++ shared-libraries ctypes libdc1394 share|improve this question edited Jan 15 at 21:22 paty.r15 94111 asked Oct 2 '12 at 11:17 Tom Medley 13.7k2592178 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 128 down vote accepted Very frustrating that nobody actually shows a concrete solution. I had this issue after installing OpenCV. For me the easiest solution to remove this warning was actually to disable this driver: sudo ln /dev/null /dev/raw1394 share|improve this answer answered Sep 25 '14 at 0:24 Vad 1,81511017 1 Awesome, you saved me a day! –Dmytriy Voloshyn Feb 7 '15 at 12:24 1 this is the answer you are looking for - if you arent using the hardware but using CV2! –Fight Fire With Fire Mar 16 '15 at 20:53 4 Doesn't seem right th

(Working on Ubuntu 14.04 AMI on EC2 instance g2.2xlarge) I installed CUDA 7 and c/p-ed the cuDNN files there and also of course installed http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12689304/ctypes-error-libdc1394-error-failed-to-initialize-libdc1394 caffe as described - everything seems to be fine. So now after running ./digits-devserver for the first time I got an error that the process wasn't permitted to write to /home/ubuntu/.digits/ - lazy me I "solved" this issue by simply setting the permissions for the folder and its content recursively to 777 (chmod -R 777 ~/.digits). Now after working my way through the initial questions of https://github.com/NVIDIA/DIGITS/issues/78 the config module I get another error: libdc1394 error: Failed to initialize libdc1394 (process:1596): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. For completeness sake I am adding the full session - I accepted all the suggested defaults: ubuntu@ip-172-31-15-133:~/digits$ ./digits-devserver ___ ___ ___ ___ _____ ___ | \_ _/ __|_ _|_ _/ __| | |) | | (_ || | | | \__ \ |___/___\___|___| |_| |___/ Welcome to the DIGITS config module.
