And I am getting following message [root@server ~]# dmesg | tailAdd. But is it possible to make the mount READ-WRITE? It keeps some of our automated backups and I don't want backups to miss anymore. Please help! Thanks in advance!Mayank Top pschaff Retired Moderator Posts: 18276 Joined: 2006/12/13 20:15:34 Location: Tidewater, Virginia, Nort
disks in aRAID1 array using linux software raid (md1 is / and md0 is /boot).Recently the root file system was remounted read-only for some reason. The logs don't show anything unusual, presumably the file system wasread-only before anythng was logged. Running dmesg showed this errorrepeated many times:EXT3-fs error (device md1) in start_transaction: Journal has abortedBefore rebooting the system I checked the raid array status with cat/proc/mdstat and mdadm. No errors were shown. When rebooting thesystem I let fsck do a check of the file systems. It reported severalerrors and I let it fix them. The thing that's bothering me is I can'tfind any reason for the EXT3 error. Nothing seems to be wrong with thearray or the hardware.I also noticed a few worrying messages while booting up and shuttingdown. On boot-up mdamd complains that super-minor should only bedeclared once and then there's a message that File descriptor 21 isopen. On shutdown there are messages that md0 and md1 are in immediatesafe mode and that md1 is till in use.Is my system totally hosed or can I ignore these warnings? Thanks,Rasmus reply Tweet Search Discussions Search All Groups centos 10 responses Oldest Nested Alfred von Campe I had the exact error 9 months or so ago (look for a similarly titled thread in the archives). It was a disk going bad. Get all the data off you need now and replace the disk ASAP. It may run for a few days/weeks before it gets mounted again read only, but eventually you will lose some data.
