Re: Premiere Pro CC "generic error" when importing FCP XML files Mark Mapes Jul 11, 2013 1:11 PM (in response to BillH8392) Not to be a smart aleck, but as the word "generic" implies, the error message does not provide any useful information. Before we can begin to think about workarounds, we'll need to know more about the source FCP project. If it's possible to provide a copy of the xml file, that could help, too.But before you do anything else, if you haven't already applied the update that came out yesterday. In a quick scan of the top bugs fixed, I don't see anything specific t

now I export with the final cut round trip preset selected. Resolve exports individual source clips and exports an xml linking to them ( it has a weir extension .fcpxml). https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1252524 I take that xml into premier, it imports the media, but then throughs an error saying THE IMPORTER REPORTED A GENERIC ERROR. I press ok, check through the media to see if there is a sequence. No sequence was created. Again, i've read through older xml threads and this has worked brilliantly for me before but right now it doesn't. https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/277/29945 Any help would be much appreciated. File > Export AAF, XML... > Export an XML and make sure it's XML and not fcpxml. Resolve now seemingly defaults to FCPX format XML files (fcpxml) instead of FCP7/APr compatible XML files.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: Another xml problemby Stepan Ko on May 8, 2014 at 8:53:29 pmHello! Thanks for the reply Wouldn't that xml (the one exported from the edit page) link to the original media and not the trimmed one that i've just exported? However, this is the first time I'm using it on a real project and was wondering if somebody could help me out. Here's what I did: brought in the BMC RAW files, exported some ProRes LT proxies Edit those ProRes files in Premiere into a timeline Export XML from Premiere and import that into Resolve Color the Premiere edited timeline in Resolve using the original Cinema DNG files the importer reported Now I go to deliver and choose 'Final Cut Pro XML Round-trip' - this exports all my colored clips and an XML I try to import that XML back into Premiere and I get the error: File Import Failure - The Importer reported a generic error. Been searching around and haven't found a way around this yet, anybody here know how to get around this? Thanks. #2 Jason Greene View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Senior Member Join Date Oct 2012 Location Illinois Posts 344 09-24-201310:52 PM Would replacing the proxies with the graded footage work? Don't know why it is failing for you. It has worked for me with Resolve 9. Are you selecting to export the media with the XML? #3 vicharris View Profile View Forum Posts Taking a Vacation Join Date May 2013 Location Los Angeles Posts 4,633 09-24-201310:58 PM I had this same problem with FCP7. Because I didn't have the time to figure it out, I just exported the finished grade from Resolve to a seamless ProRes4444 file and brought that back into FCP7 to sync to audio, then export again to ProRes4444 to prepare for transcode for web. That might not help you at all though You could always export the ProRes file from Resolve as individual clips too if you need to add transitions in Premier or whatever else you want. Not the best way but a work a
