What mode? Mobile network or wifi? Or both? Try doing one download at a time. If that works, try two. Then three. Three may be the limit that will all complete successfully. If you can't do even one download successfully, then do a hard reset and try again. Hard reset = with power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. Also look at your free memory.........I imagine the device buffers some data in main memory before writing to the media card. Maybe your free space in main memory is too low. If your problem is on wifi, and it is your router, then do a full off power cycle on the router and modem. If your

By ObiGeorge Tuesday, Aug 17, 2010 at 2:26 pm EDT 39 Comments One of the biggest complaints I have seen about the BlackBerry OS has been the very low (2.9mb) limit on file downloads from the internet. Well finally, RIM has addressed this massive complaint and now allows for large file downloads via the BlackBerry browser. As you can see in the screenshots above, I had no trouble downloading the latest CrackBerry Podcast straight from the internet (Bla1ze, you can smile now). While there is no word on what the actual max download is (if any), I have personally downloaded files in excess of 100mb which is all we really need. So if you have a new Torch 9800, get on that webkit browser and download away! Like us! The problem is that the Blackberry Browser limits the how to download size to files 2.3mb or smaller. This usually is not a problem for most things mobile. But lets say you wanted to download a large .pdf, or a PowerPoint, or anything that is larger than the browser limit: you can't. 0mie over at 0mietech has found a work around to this limitation. No longer does one have to install Opera Mini in order to install a larger sized file. It can be done right in the native Blackberry Browser. The reason for the bb browser download limitation is that RIM sets its WAP and Internet to a specific port. It is literally impossible to download anything larger than the 2.3mbs because that is the port limit. For an explanation in laymen's terms, try parking a Hummer in a garage that is meant for a sports car, you won't be able to do it. Therefore, in order to download files larger than 2.3mbs through the browser, the port in which the browser accesses must be changed. In order to do so, follow these steps 1. Go to options > advanced options > service books. Then hold ALT and type SBEB, if you have a QWERTY keyboard. For Storm users ATL 4?2? should work. I am not sure how to do it for Surepress. Then you should get the pop up that you see below. 2. Once you have completed step 1 and have gotten the above pop up, you are ready to open the Desktop Manager. Go to Backup/Restore > Advanced > Open the .ipd file that is linked HERE. 3. On the left hand box go to file open, select the .ipd file, open it and send it to your phone. Then disconnect the phone from your computer. 4. Open the native browser on your phone and go to Options > General Properties. There should be a new option called "NET Browser" in the Default Browser drop down. You are now set to begin downloading files of any size! 5. On your first download you will
is a fixed file download limit of 2.3MB. Many users avoid this by installing a 3rd party browser (such as Opera Mini, for example), but there is still that bitter taste for having an extra web browser around just to download decently sized files. This limit seems to be imposed by a certain WAP port that the Blackberry is set to use by default, which blocks any file greater than this. Fortunately, [0mie] has found a way to reconfigure the default Blackberry Browser to use a different port without this restriction. Step by step walk through, links to the file required, and screen shots of large file downloads are provided. [0mie] claims that this hack works on a number of different phones and OS versions, and we are sure he would appreciate a wider audience to test this with. [Note: This hack seems to use a Chinese provider as a proxy, so there may be privacy issues, etc. As always, hack at your own risk.] Posted in blackberry hacks, Cellphone Hacks, downloads hacksTagged blackberry, browser, download, limit Post navigation ←Lubuntu 9.10 alpha image availablePeggy-zilla→ 66 thoughts on “Blackberry download limit remover” Comment navigation Newer Comments → McSquid says: September 1, 2009 at 6:48 pm @henchmen Maybe you have and it just showed up as "cannot be displayed" as i suspect is the case with me. Took a quick look at the IPD required to make this work it references http://mmsc.monternet.com/url. It appears that it is just converting your proxy to a Chinese cell phone provider, which may not have download limits. You seem to be able to undo it by just deleting all the CMCC service books.
