Clean Out Print Spooler
cancel it, you’re experiencing a stuck print job. There’s a simple way to clear out the print queue, but it’s not always the most obvious thing. Here’s how to do it. Note: we encountered this problem earlier today but http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02205477 forgot to take a screenshot of the print queue with a stuck job, so we substituted with a picture of a regular job sitting in the queue. This should work in Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista. Clearing a Stuck Print Job in Windows The first thing you’re going to want to do is open up Services through the start menu search, find Print Spooler in the list, and click the Stop button. Now open up Windows Explorer and http://www.howtogeek.com/100358/how-to-cancel-or-delete-a-stuck-print-job-in-the-windows-print-queue/ put this into the location bar: %windir%\System32\spool\PRINTERS You might be prompted for UAC to allow access to the folder, which you’ll want to accept. Now you’ll see a bunch of files in the folder, and you’re going to want to delete all of them. Don’t delete the PRINTERS folder itself, just the files. Now go back to Services and click the Start button to start up the service again. At this point your stuck print job should be gone. I just bought a new Vista Home Premium HP Pavillion. (mistake #1). Mistake #2 I made before looking at the discussion forums was to add a printer on my new Vista Home Premium to a XP networked computer that is connected via a tcp/ip port. I was able to add the printer BUT everything went south after that. I was how to not able to print a test page and the print spooler kept stopping. After figurng out how to restart the spooler, I discovered my faux pas about trying to connect a Vista os with a XP os printer driver. No problem. So I found the vista printer driver on the net and added another printer. No problem. Problem I have now is I cannot delete the XP printer connection I how to delete first created and I belive it is causing the vista print spooler to keep stopping.. When I go to Start/Control Panel/Printers the status of that printer states "Access Denied, unable to connect" When I highlight the printer, right click and select Delete, I get a confirmation window and I select yes. After a few seconds I receive the following pop up "Printer connection cannot be removed. The local Printer Service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." Thing is I have My Services Window open and I had the print Spooler started just below I attempted to delete this networked printer. I tried it 3-4 times with the same results. How do I get rid of the networked XP printer driver on the vista pc? Thanks in advance Kack Tuesday, March 20, 2007 6:47 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote I have EXACTLY the same problem, and I don't think we're alone! Hopefully it will be covered in the next Vista service pack. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 1:47 AM Reply | Quote 2 Sign in to vote I figured it out!!!
