Skullcrush02 Posted 1/7/13, 1:03 AM I was just looking for mods for Oblivion on tesnexus when I suddenly couldn't download anything bypass error 403 anymore. I had been downloading things all day, but nothing that would change anything this drastically. I went to other sites and found out I couldn't download anything there either. I've tried clearing my cache, how to access forbidden sites 403 history and cookies to no avail. I tried disabling my plugins and antivirus and again, nothing. I tried resetting my computer, but it was another failure. I tried using IE and still I couldn't download the files. I've been working hard to mod Oblivion, but all that effort seems to be for nothing since the only option I see left is to format my hard drive and start over...

If I recall correctly, download managers like DownLoadThemAll will use multiple connections to download different parts of a given file. Many download sites use a system where when a user opens the download page they are given a randomly generated download link which points to the real file (i.e. http://www.example.com/download.php?file=randomstring, though it could appear to be anything). This random link will expire after a short period of time so that anyone trying to use it will get an error. They do this to keep people from hotlinking directly to the file. If DTA is initiating a new connection after the link has expired, then that could explain
