"Winlogon" entries. All thats ever shown are 2 different event notifications. NO chkdsk logs. (...and I checked a months worth of "Winlogon" entries.) There should be actual files (*.log or *.txt) located either on the "root" drive or the "Windows" folder that contain the info of what occured during the execution of the CHKDSK command before bootup. At one time it could be found in the "bootex.txt" file, but I can find no such animal in Win7. Thanks! You want "Save All Events As..." and then select .txt format in the file save dialog. If you only want to save some particular entries, use "Filter Current Log" and "Save Filtered Log File As...". When the system booted up, I searched Event Viewer for the log but it is not there. I work on PC's regularly and have seen this happen several times on Windows 7. I checked the boxes for "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." It hadn't finished by the time I left. When I came in this morning, there how to check was a message box saying that the check had completed successfully, but I haven't been able to find the results (i.e. if there were any corrupt files or other errors). A subsequent run of chkdsk (in the console with no switches) informs me that there are no bad sectors and that the indexes check out and there are no errors. Usually I run chkdsk on the command line and am able to look over the results. When its run on the OS drive, it logs an event in Application section that shows the same result text as the console prints. Are the results of the Disk Error Checking utility logged anywhere so I can review them? EDIT TO ADD: This was not the OS drive and was connected via USB. windows-xp chkdsk share|improve this question edited Aug 9 '10 at 21:26 asked Aug 9 '10 at 17:49 yhw42 2,01611727 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote They are logged in event viewer. you two ways to check Kodi's log file for errors.Checking the log file itselfKodi's log is a plain text file so you can open it with any text editor. Use this method if you are planning on asking for help in forums, having the log file at hand can save you a lot of time.Every OS uses different paths to store Kodi's files, you can find the path to the log file on the following list.Windows: C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\kodi.logAndroid:{storage}/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/kodi.logLinux: ~/.kodi/kodi.logiOS: /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/Kodi/kodi.logMac: /Users/{user_name}/Library/Application Support/Kodi/kodi.logOpenELEC: /storage/.kodi/kodi.logOSMC: /home/osmc/.kodi/temp/kodi.logXBian: /home/xbian/.kodi/temp/kodi.logIt's considered good practice to use services like xbmclogs.com or pastebin.com to upload your log instead of posting the file directly to a forum.Using Log Viewer for Kodi addonYou can check the log file without leaving Kodi by downloading the Log Viewer for Kodi addon in Kodi's official repository. This method will show you the log file regardless of the OS you are running. 1. Select "System" on the Home Screen. 2. Then "Add-ons". 3. Click on "Install from repository". 4. Select "Kodi Add-on Repository". (If you don't have any other repo installed, Kodi will use the official repo by default). 5. Go to "Program add-ons". 6. Scroll the list until you find "Log Viewer for Kodi" and click on it. 7. Press "Install" and wait a couple of seconds while it downloads. 8. Go back to the Home Screen and select "Programs". (If you are using Android you'll see an extra menu after, select "Program add-ons"). 9. Click on "Log Viewer for Kodi" to open it. 10. Select "Show Log" to display the log file. Some low power system might take a couple of second to show the log file.Kodi's log file can give us a hint of what's going on, you don't need to fu
