No TeX distribution installed WinEdt is merely an editor, if you want to use TeX you have to download a TeX distribution. See here for more details. 2. No info about the TeX distribution in the system PATH WinEdt can automatically detect the executables of a TeX distribution only if its b
time. Suddenly a problem comes. This does not help a lot (suddenly?). Try to restart your computer and see if the "problem" goes away. Open my documents and texify(or tex distribution download anyting like Latex compiling) them and at first time it works. I how to install miktex have checked that the whole output files appear in my directory. However, after successing the compile fist time,

the second action does not work at all. It gives some error message box to say that "Error starting Texify! See WinEdt's Tex Configuration Wizard for detailed diagnosis of your http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/121454/the-system-cannot-find-the-file-specified Tex system." Anything about the macro is not working. Texify, LaTex, ..... All of the situations are the same. Very first time is okay for every macro excution, but the second does not work at all. Start the command prompt from WinEdt of from Windows Start menu. Now type the command there: latex yourdocument Does it work? If no, you have http://osdir.com/ml/editors.winedt/2004-10/msg00028.html a serious problem outside WinEdt. If yes (you still have a problem outside WinEdt) but you can try: Options -> Execution Modes: press Direct (Execution Mode). This is the simplest execution mode. Again you may have to restart WinEdt or your computer and then try again. On a few occasions I had the pleasure to discuss strange problems with users that click on the X box (Alt+F4) in the console to kill compilation if there are too many errors. This is a very bad idea because the application may not have a chance to cleanup and unlock all the files and may not behave properly from there on. If you really have to kill use Ctrl+C and well written applications will respond with proper exit handler.... Anyway, the problem here is not WinEdt macros: they are executed every time. But when WinEdt tries to launch the executable for the second time it refuses to start. Since the problem occurred "suddenly" try to remember anything that might have happened at that point (any update, new software, etc...) and go from there...
