and I know in this message so much mistakes, but I want to find solution of my problem. If you install UFRaw on WindowsXP/Vista/7 after installing Gimp 2.8, to default directory is C:\Program Files\UFRaw and UFRaw do not working. If you change directory to C:\Program Files\Gimp 2 (WindowsXP) UFRaw working very well, but if we will ufraw review use Vista or 7 (64 bit), we will get some problem... When we start UFRaw we get error message (some error in DLL). If platform is 64 bits, gimp automatically create a new directory "32", and I tried to install UFRaw in this directory (C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\32) after that UFRaw working almost well, but plug-in not working. Then I changed location UFRaw plugin (exe) to the correct directory and plug-in began to work. The last problem is button "Open in Gimp" (near "Save"). It is ever working. Well, it is all and I hope you answer me. Discussion Niels Kristian Bech Jensen - 2012-06-09 UFRaw 0.18 is built to work with GIMP 2.6.x (and GIMP 2.4.x). Problems with GIMP 2.8.x are to be expected. A simple configuration change is needed to get the "Open in Gimp" button working. Push the "Options" button and change the remote gimp command to "gimp-2.8.exe" in the "Settings" tab. There’s a very good reason you don’t need these instructions on installing UFRaw for GIMP; because it’s already included with the Mac build of GIMP. So not only do you have reason to not complain, you may gloat a little if that is your style. You may still find these instructions helpful. And for Linux folks, instructions for installing are as vast as there are flavors of Linux. All of the appropriate packages can be found on UFRaw’s download page. This fine tool does a great job of converting a few of the basic RAW formats (Canon, Nikon and a few others) into your choice of outputs. The tool has quite a few controls for adjusting the image even before opening the converted file in GIMP and it can, indeed, be used as a stand alone program if desired. In this post I will explain just the basics of opening a photo with some simple changes. The tool has a LOT of controls beyond the basics, best left for another post. For the Windows people to get started, you’ll need to download UFRaw from Sourceforge, located here. I’m also assuming you have a copy of GIMP alr

The Unidentified Flying Raw (UFRaw) is a plug-in to read and manipulate raw images from digital cameras and to load them into the Gimp. Here are the steps needed to get it working (on Windows XP SP3 - some of the paths will be slightly different in Win7): 1. Ufraw expects Gimp to provide some DLLs, but Gimp 2.7.3 uses later versions. I found it needed jpeg62.dll and libpng12-0.dll which have been superseded in 2.7.3. I downloaded these (http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/downlinks/jpeg-bin-zip.php - just extract jpeg62.dll from the zip; http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/Install/libpng12-0.dll) and popped them in C:\Program Files\UFRaw\bin. You could also get them from an existing installation of Gimp 2.6. With these in place, I could run the standalone ufraw.exe successfully. 2. I moved C:\Program Files\UFRaw\lib\gimp\2.0\plugins\ufraw-gimp.exe to C:\Documents and Settings\

It seems that Gimp doesn't work natively in RAW so I did a google search and found UFRaw. I've downloaded it and can work on my RAW files in it but when I try to export it to Gimp (the Gimp icon bottom right) I get the following message: Error activating Gimp Failed to execute helper program (Invalid argument) Have I done something wrong? I have the most recent version of Gimp and UFRaw and both seem to work fine, independently, but I can't seem to get them to play together. Thanks, Jack Reply With Quote 18th March 2013,11:02 PM #2 Shadowman Join Date Dec 2009 Location WNY Posts 26,339 Real Name John Re: Gimp and RAW Does UFRaw convert the files to TIFF? If it does then you should be able to work on the file in Gimp, but if UFRaw gives you adequate processing capabilities why bother with Gimp? It shouldn't be like that. I'm wondering if some installation 'glitch'. Reply With Quote 18th March 2013,11:55 PM #4 inkista Join Date Nov 2
