The How-To Geek Forums Have Migrated to Discourse How-To Geek Forums / Windows Vista (Solved) - Nero Problem- Nero Vision creating files too large for DVD (6 posts) Started 7 years ago by radiocricket Latest reply from radiocricket Topic Viewed 2919 times radiocricket Posts: 5 This post has been reported. I have a new computer and am trying to burn my first DVD with it using Nero Vision. Nero Vision goes through the whole process and completes it but when I try to burn it to a DVD, an error message comes up saying there isn't enough room on the DVD. Checking the properties of the Video_TS file and sure enough, it's 4.39GB in size. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Nero countless times now, trying both Nero 8 and Nero 9, with Nero's General Cleaner (though I have Vista 64 bit and Nero's cleaner doesn't say it will work on it). I've deleted ffdshow, the only codec I know I had, since I noticed it running when Nero Vision began transcoding. I've been searching the web for answers for the last two days and haven't found a solution. I came upon this forum and thought it would be the best place to ask. I've seen quite a few answers to them same problem elsewhere but they weren't really "answers", they were work-arounds saying to use DVD Shrink to get the files to fit onto a DVD. At that point, why do I even have Nero? Some answers have suggested that it has to do with the specific .avi file, that some .avi files are just "funny". To test this out, I used my husband's laptop with Nero 8 on it to transcode the file. It created the Video_TS file just fine and I successfully burned it to a DVD. Of course I could continue just using my husband's laptop but what's the point of that? My new computer is the best computer I've ever owned and super fast. It is converting my 700MB avi file, just under 2 hours in play length, in twenty minutes and it's only using half my computer's resources. My husband's laptop takes around an hour (half the play time of any .avi file) and and my old computer (now the kid's computer) took twice the play time to convert and both these computers use all their rescources for transcoding so you can't use them for anything else while they're transcoding. Obviously I'd like to use the fastest computer for my transcoding. Any thoughts, ideas or solutions? I'd appreciate any and all! -Janice Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top ScottW Posts: 6609 This post has been reported. radiocricket, he
