This is because the disc has bad https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-copy-dvds-with-read-errors dye most probably, the disc isn't commercially available so I can't just get another copy. Anyway the read errors come in at about 92%, I tried 'ignore read errors' on dvd decrypter, but after about 2 hours it was still getting them. Is there a way to copy this dvd as it is? with the read errors? I know some of the dvd may not be viewable, which is fine..but it all plays fine on my dvd player, so if i copy http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/263809-Trying-to-backup-a-DVD-with-errors-(due-to-poor-disc-not-protection) it, theoretically it should all play ok. But I can't find a way of doing it. Any suggestions? The sequence here should apply to just about any situation you have with a DVD, CD or game disc regardless of whether the disc contains just data or if it has been created to play back video. As a word of warning, some of the steps may involve treatment how to to the surface of the disc to correct reading errors and it is important to note that they may NOT be applicable to Blu-ray discs. Blu-ray discs are manufactured differently and only light polishing is suitable for them. Doing otherwise may result in permanent damage to the disc surface that may render the disc completely useless. The main difficulty in starting out is how to copy that you are most likely getting some kind of error message from the disc reader and you think that the problem is from some particular source because of that message. Common error messages such as Disc Error, No Disc, Invalid DVD Navigation or even Invalid File Structure tend to make you think you have a problem disc… not a problem reader. The reality is that these and just about all other error messages you may get are essentially meaningless and are telling you nothing. They are simply pre-written error messages that may randomly appear from within the software when ANY kind of problem occurs. They are not the result of some hidden and highly technical diagnostic process having been carried out by the software! It’s just smoke and mirrors! You can place a faulty disc into a reader and have it report that there is No Disc… which is just silly because obviously there is a disc in there! So let's get started. Is It A Disc Error or a Player Error? If you have a disc that won’t play in a particular device the first thing
some times in ripping DVD as getting errors like "Unrecovered Read Error" or "Data cannot be read" etc. Read errors on a DVD are sometimes caused by scratches; sometimes are inserted in DVDs to inhibit people from copying them, better known as copy protected. Scratches on a DVD can often be fixed by using rubbing alcohol, furniture polish or toothpaste to remove scratches and smudges from a DVD's surface. After these imperfections are removed, the DVD should perform much better in your DVD ripping program. But to copy protected DVDs is really a big headache. This is because companies making DVD movies make their DVD in such a way that if you ever want to copy it, your DVD ROM will get stuck in a particular area of the DVD which it wont be able to read and therefore gives a DVD read error. Most copy protected DVD uses a copy-prevention algorithm called Content Scramble System (CSS), Region Code Enhanced (RCE), User Operation Prohibition (UOP), Sony ARccOS DVD protection, the Analog Protection System, etc. which helps to prevent DVD movies play in a region before a film is released in theaters.
