Trending Now Answers Best Answer: Your drive may be set to P10 mode instead of DMA: Right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager Go IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, select your burner, right click, select Properties/Advanced & make sure the Transfer Mode is DMA - not P10. Also, try burning at a lower speed. It could also be the media you're using. Some discs may not be compatible with your drive. I've found fewer errors using Verbatim and Sony discs. I have a problem when burning a cd with the DVD writer. I will get a DMA-driver error, CRC error. I am using a 40-conductor cable, and set it as https://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100118071723AAESzc1 master (secondary cable). Could it be the 40-conductor cable that is causing this problem? Do i need an 80-conductor cable? Thanks in advance. Check the device manager and make sure it is not showing the drive as non-functional (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager). If it shows a yellow ? the click to reinstall the drivers for http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/dvd-writer-dma-driver-error-crc-error-when-burning-cd.84665/ it. Windows provides the drivers for optical drives. An 80 core cable might be the problem but this depends on the drive. Can you borrow one to test it with? Final option is that the drive is faulty.
