Windows Vista IT Pro > Windows Vista Networking Question 0 Sign in to vote I have a friend who has a 7 month old Compaq running Vista Home that was working fine until about 2 days ago. She is getting an Error 814 now every time she tries to connect to the intenet (via Cable modem). I looked at the Device Manager and there is no ethernet listed at all. This box has an integrated ethernet unit and the light is on when the cable is plugged in. When I unplug the cable, the system gives me no indication or when I plug it back in.Has anyone else had this problem??? I have downloaded a driver from HP and will be attempting to install it tomorrow. I also plan on taking my laptop and a new ethernet cable to rule out a connectivity problem. Is it possible that the integrated ethernet has gone bad and if so how do I test it??Any help would be appreciated!!Thanks,WendyError 814: The underlying Ethernet connectivity required for the broaband connection was not found. Please install and enable the Ethernet adapter on your computer via the Network Connections folder before attempting this connection. Based on my experience, some similar problems are caused by NIC driver corrupt or missing. Please reinstall the updated drive
