I was not able to access files nor shutdown, start icon was missing. After troubleshooting, i received the following message: Error code 0F00: 136C Msg: IDE device failed: Blank media or no media is present in optical drive. Test requires media with digital data (Resource CD, installation CD) When I wanted to start the System Restore, I received this message: System Restore is not able to protect computer. Please restart your computer, and then run system restore again. Since then I was not able to launch any of the applications. In addition, I could not connect to the internet as well. Can some one help me or guide me to resolve this problem? It's possible the installation disk itself, is bad. Try cleaning it. Reports: · Posted 8 years ago Top 0zSpitt Posts: 1037 This post has been reported. actually the disks were still sealed in the original package, i transfered the drivers to a flash drive, downloaded the same drivers from dell, used an external cd/dvd drive and tried to open them with 7zip. the computer installed 7zip but would not open the drivers from a zip file. Reports: · Posted 8 years ago Top Lighthouse Posts: 13598 This post has been reported. It does sound like the zip are corrupt. Do you get any messages? And you could try unzipping with this. http://filehippo.com/download_universal_extractor/ Reports: · Posted 8 years ago Top 0zSpitt Posts: 1037 This post has been reported. i'll try that download, thanks. the only message i get is "the file can't be created" (i think) the drivers are coming from a dell resourse cd and directly from dell. i'll try the link and see what happens. You've probably got a bad hard drive. I'd replace it and see if that takes care of the problem. Other possibilities are a bad system board. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - problem fixed - Thanx by palilley · 10 years ago In reply to Probably bad hard drive dear wiz - thanks for the advice.
