This only occurs with Firefox (using version 23). Other browsers (Chrome, IE) work fine on the same URLs which have a problem in Firefox. I have seen similar symptoms on other posts but not exactly this scenario. As some other posts mention, the commercial prior to the video is rendered fine. This is one example URL where I get the problem: http://www.usatoday.com/videos/tech/columnist/2013/07/26/2591567/Any suggestions? 11536Views https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1264768 Tags: none (add) firefoxContent tagged with firefox, flash_playerContent tagged with flash_player, ve_fms_connect_failedContent tagged with ve_fms_connect_failed This content has been marked as final. Re: Error VE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED, Firefox, Windows 7 64 bit JimAlex3 Aug 22, 2013 4:47 PM (in response to JimAlex3) Well, I had originally ruled out my firewall as the culprit mainly because things worked fine with the other browsers on the same ports. Turns there was a firewall rule specific to Firefox. I removed that rule, and the video works now. I hope this helps someone else out there with the same issue. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Error VE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED, Firefox, Windows 7 64 bit Mike M Aug 22, 2013 9:08 PM (in response to JimAlex3) That's good to know. I use "Little Snitch" on my Mac to monitor internet traffic, and I was seeing this same error on one particular site. Turns out it was a specific address I'd blocked access to. I'm putting this in my notes for future reference. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Go to original post Actions More Like This Retrieving data ... Other videos such as YouTube are OK; in fact, on the NYTimes site, there are videos with preceding commercials where I can view the commercial but not the content! I found this explanation of the error in the BrightCove forum: This is the result of the Flash Media Server (FMS) being unable to establish a connection over port 1935; 443; and 80 leading to a connection timeout. However, ufw tells me that the firewall is inactive and iptables has no entries. I've not done anything to configure either the firewall or the ports. I get this both with Chrome and Firefox, so it seems to be unrelated to the browser. Assuming the BrightCove explanation is correct, is there anything I can do about it? The Solution, at least for my situation, seemed to be to change the MTU setting under the Network Connection
