Comments Getting a taste of a new software update before it even reaches a person’s region or switching to a custom ROM that brings with it an entirely new world of possibilities both seem completely amazing, but these endeavors are not without the risk of failure. In fact, many Android users fail at flashing OTA system updates and custom ROMs through ZIP files, especially those who are unfamiliar with these processes. The flashing of a system update can fail because of a wide variety of different errors, one of the most common of which is the Status 7 error. Android devices display a System 7 error when a system update or custom ROM fails to flash, and while the Status 7 error is one of the more common errors associated with the flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762 of ZIP files, it is also one of the less serious and almost always fixable ones. For Non-Rooted Devices The only instance in which the Status 7 error can be seen on a non-rooted Android device is when a person, instead of waiting for a new system update to reach them Over the Air, decides to sideload and flash a ZIP file containing the official software update onto their device. A non-rooted Android device only displays a Status 7 error when a system update https://appuals.com/steps-to-fix-status-7-error/ is being flashed onto it and something is found to be out of place or, to be more precise, modified. The Status 7 error only affects non-rooted devices that are not in complete stock condition, so the only way to fix the Status 7 error on a non-rooted Android device is to restore every bit of the device back to its stock condition. If the device is running on a custom kernel, the stock kernel needs to be flashed; if the device has a custom recovery image, the stock recovery image needs to be flashed; and so on. PRO TIP: If the issue is with your computer or a laptop/notebook you should try using the Reimage Plus Software which can scan the repositories and replace corrupt and missing files. This works in most cases, where the issue is originated due to a system corruption. You can download Reimage Plus by Clicking Here For Rooted Devices Android users often see Status 7 errors on rooted Android devices when flashing custom ROMs. The two most common causes of the Status 7 error on rooted Android devices are an outdated version of a custom recovery and a faulty custom recovery. To fix this issue on a rooted device, all a person need do is update to the latest version of the custom recovery they have on their device or switch to a different custom recovery entirely. However, in the event that these two solutions don’t work (which is a rare case), the updater-script of the

Status 7 error is caused while the ROM's updater script file checks to see if the phone model of your phone is compatible with the ROM you are installing, called "asserts". "Asserts" is a safety mechanism so you don't accidentally install another phone model ROM on your phone. E.g. You tried to install Galaxy S2 ROM on how to fix a Galaxy S3 and ending up hard-bricking your phone but you got Status 7 error which saved you. Now, this safety mechanism is great but there are times where even if you have the correct ROM for your phone, you will get Status 7 error. This is due to an error by the developer of the ROM in the updater script, causing havoc, making people install another custom recovery like TWRP recovery for no reason. You can fix the issue by installing TWRP recovery but if you need to restore your CWM backups later down the line, you will have to re-install CWM recovery, causing a big hassle. Also, if you update to the latest CWM Recovery using ROM Manager, usually this problem is fixed. But what if you did update to the latest CWM Recovery and still happens? And yes, it does happen even when you update your CWM recovery. If you simply don't want to change your recovery (because if it ain't broke, don't fix it) or you still get Status 7 error after changing recovery, you can simply edit the updater script yourself to get rid of the asserts. All you need is a computer and a zipping program! (You might be able to even do it on your Android device with AndroZip and text editor but I haven't tried yet.) MAKE SURE THE ROM YOU ARE INSTALLING IS COMPATIBLE WI

But our little green guy knows his job well and adjusts himself to suit our needs. We can groom him and change the way he works too. You just need to know what you want and how to get it. Right from the theme, the UI, the kernel, the recovery, anything and everything of your Android smartphone can be tweaked to suit your needs. The OS is truly like the desert it is named after. This work is fairly easy, but sometimes flashing a Custom ROM can be a headache, it might lead to unexpected and unwanted errors and our little green guy may become sick or go into a coma. For those of you who are having problems with this process, here’s our little list of errors you could face while flashing ROMs and a tutorial on how to fix these common errors. From Earlier: 7 Reasons You Should Switch to an MIUI ROM #1 - Your handset is stuck in a Bootloop Android BootScreen Well, this is the most common issue when talking about Android devices. Also, the problem can be easily fixed as you only have to wipe the system of your device. Usually, the boot loop problem occurs when you forget to wipe the data from the phone after flashing a ROM as there are residuals in the ROM from the developers which don’t allow the phone to boot up completely. ClockWork Mod Recovery Now, in this method we assumed that you have installed a custom recovery image on your handset: like CWM recovery, AmonRA, TWRP recovery and so on. Use the recovery for wiping the system of your handset thus resolving the boot loop issue. Be aware though as each device can be entered into the recovery mode differently; usually you need to press a combination of buttons (for example on Samsung you need to press Volume Up and Home buttons) while Powering up your tablet/smartphone. Once the recovery mode entered you need to follow the following instructions: Use the Volume keys in order to navigate through the recovery menu. Select “Advanced” and choose “Wipe Dalvik Cache”. Return to main menu. Then select “Wipe Data Factory Reset”. Return and this time choose “Wipe Cache Partition”. Return and select “Reboot System Now”. Your handset should start in the Android OS now. So, there you have it; now the boot loop problem shou
