In addition, in Windows Explorer (which will allow me to view files, as long as I don't click on the My Computer tree icon), the only visible drive is drive C (however, if I go to the address bar, I can type in D:\ and it will bring up that drive's contents). I've tried a number of potential solutions, and none of them seem to work. I've been all over the Microsoft Support site trying to figure this out, and I've found no cures. According to Microsoft, it may have something to do with a corrupt .pwl file, and I followed their resolution steps, but the problem remains unsolved. I had a temporary fix by not logging in as a user on Windows (hitting cancel at the logon window), but now that doesn't even work anymore. I've also tried SFC, but that didn't detect any problems. I'm very reluctant to reinstall Windows, as I'll lose Office since I don't have that disc (it came on the system when I bought it from a friend). Also, I'd have to reinstall my CD drive which I removed because it doesn't work too well. So that's not an option I care to pursue. I have a Ghost image from May '04, but like reinstalling Windows, I'd lose a number of programs I've installed since then. I've also run a number af anti-virus and spy/ad/mal-ware detectors and haven't found anything. If anyone can help me out with this problem, I'd be extremely gratef

Now you may have never entered a password, but probably after installing the PalmIII and if you setup the links for email it will check for profiles. Try this, go to start, run, find files or folders. Do a search for *.pwl and there will be a username.pwl file for each password on your system. Delete them all and try again. If windows is not booting, try this in safe mode. Hope this helps. 0 Message Author Comment by:tsteed2001-01-04 Thanks for the quick response to my MPREXE error message problem. I don't know what was done before I started. Apparently programs were uninstalled (printer, etc). It looks like a reinstall may have been performed as well. System tools version conflict manager reported a vast amount of older files that replaced newer versions last week. I restored the newer versions and can't get beyond the empty desktop.I have read up on the error, and it seems related to password lists. I read up on workarounds, and followed them by removing the password lists from Windows\system folder. I continue to get the error.Any suggestions on how to prevent the machine from executing mprexe so that I can at least run windows and continue t
