After the most recent update, i now have issues with my toshiba power saver utility on my laptop. Ever since the first reboot after the recent zone alarm update, I now receive the following error at windows xp startup "Toshiba Power Saver: A https://www.zonealarm.com/forums/showthread.php/79442-Latest-ZA-Update-and-Toshiba-power-saver-fatal-error fatal error has occured. this program will be terminated. code:0x5" I have uninstalled and re-installed my laptop's toshiba power saver utility obtained from the toshiba website, but it continues to show this error, even though the power saver appears to be running fine (icon is present, app runs, fnkey + power modes works). I have gone into the ZoneAlarm firewall and noted that the toshiba power saver utility is allowed full access, so i cant figure out why since the update i now have this error message. Other than completely uninstalling zonealarm to solve this problem, is there a way in which i can revert back to the previous zonealarm version? System Details: Toshiba satellite laptop, with windows xp sp3 with all the latest windows updates, Microsoft security essentials AV, and zonealarm FW. I'm using how to a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop with Windows XP (Professional) and SP2 installed. My first problem was that whenever I opened my Videos folder, explorer would crash. I can still play the video (I'm using VLC), but explorer has to restart behind it. I came here to find out how to fix it, and changing the "View" didn't work, nor did reinstalling how to fix my codecs. According to the Microsoft site, the SP2 should fix this problem, but I've had that installed for a while now and I've only just started having problems. As far as I know I haven't installed anything or changed any settings which would mess anything up. When I restarted my computer while trying to fix the above problem, I got an error message for my Toshiba Power Saver- "A Fatal error has occured. This program will be terminated. Code: 0x0". I tried removing & reinstalling it, and nothing happened except for the code changing to "0x2". There's also a "TPSTrace.txt" file in the Power Saver folder that says : "A Fatal error has occurred. This program will be terminated. code: 0x2 Location: System.cpp(228)" I would appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks! Hi.I'm sorry to hear that the previous advice didn't help you. There are 2 possible problems with your PC. Both require additional time or money.1) I think the dust is placed inside the notebook the notebook should be cleaned professionally. This means the technician with notebook experience should open the notebook and should clean the fans and ventilators and should renew the thermal grease which is placed between the CPU and the cooling module.2) Your Toshiba software should be repaired.
