Hi all, Lately I have been having a problem with my graphics card. It worked fine until I tried installing another game, namely Colin Mcrae Dirt II. After installing the game it did not work on this machine and it also did not work on another machine. However the computer running Windows XP SP2 (The first one) now comes up with an error with any game. I un-installed the game and also Direct X 10 and reinstalled Direct X 9.0. I manage to start playing a different game and then after a while I get the error the graphics card error which says: VPU Recover: VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands. Has any one got any ideas? I look forward to your responses... Studio Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top ProstheticHead Posts: 3281 This post has been reported. Studio, hi. Have you tried a System Restore to a point before you installed Dirt2? Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top mickeyblue Posts: 1521 This post has been reported. DIRT 2, installs all sorts of things because it uses DX11, but is able to run on DX10, XP does not use DX10 only DX9c. and its also a VERY GPU hungry game.what graphics card are you using? as PH said try system store before you installed DIRT 2. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top studio Posts: 198 This post has been reported. I haven't been able to do a system restore prior to the date because there is no system restore points before installing the game that I can access (that I could find). Also the graphics card is: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO. Thanks Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top mickeyblue Posts: 1521 This post has been reported. yeah thats your problem right there, DIRT 2 will never play on that graphics card. what id do is.....uninstall the current drivers, then re-install the latest from the AMD website. Does this mean my graphics card is stuffed? t

Anyways, i know how to fix this [MAJOR HELP TO SOME PPL-->] Turn off AGP http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=193494 Read & Write and tada everything works perfectly, i can play the games without any crashes.. BUT... i lose alot of FPS due to this (Logical, AGP Write/READ controls wether the GPU should read or write to the computers main memory directly or not).. so i just wonder, is there any other way i can fix this problem? i has the http://forum.spellforce.com/archive/index.php?t-41396.html VPU recovery error when playing Spellforce 2. First of http://www.computerforum.com/threads/vpu-recover-has-reset-your-graphics-accelerator-message.176432/ i reverted to catalyst driver version 6.5. This reduced the errors significantly. After that i updated DirectX to the latest version (june). But i didnt not use the web setup from microsofts site. When i how to tried that it said that no update was needed. Instead i downloaded the full package from here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html. After doing this i completed the Needle from one end to the other without any errors. Whether it corrected the error or just made it how to fix very rare, i dont know. But it seemed to work... I dont know if it would run fine with catalyst 6.6. I dont have the energy to test right now... Hope this helps you guys too! Kubi07-10-2006, 22:45Hi You can also download the full DX package from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=FB73D860-5AF1-45E5-BAC0-9BC7A5254203&displaylang=en). If it still doesnt work: Go into your Catalyst Control Center (if you dont have it installed download it from the ATI site - same link as where you downloaded the graphics card driver) and deactivate ATI Overdrive, enable VPU recover, set the AGP speed to 4 (if its 8 - can be found under Smartgart) or try to change the setting for Fast Write (can also be found under Smartgart). Messages: 9 Hi, when I play Black & White 2 my screen turns black from time to time and I get a error message with this: "VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator or it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands" then after the third error message the screen gets Grey stripes and I have to restart the computer.
