For example, if you enter 4error.aspx you will be redirected to the error page. /404error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/4error.aspx Background I am not a .NET developer, so I just took over this project which uses classic .aspx. So I am not using any Microsoft product to build any of this in templates or frameworks. I am just coding in Sublime text. What I already researched 404 Redirecting for non aspx pages - the answers there were incomplete or do not work. 404 does not append aspxerrorpath for non aspx pages - but that was a bit different than what I want. I view many articles that I found on Google but nothing had a full example that actually worked. Code This is the entire code that I started with in my web.config web.config

Anyway, I was just wondering if there http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17957954/how-can-i-make-a-custom-error-page-in-asp-net-web-pages-with-webmatrix was a way (I believe it involves the web.config file) to show a custom-made error page instead of ANY server-side error page. I know there is a way to do this with some pages (like 404 or 500) but is it possible to make a catch all page for any server-side error? (I guess 404 wouldn't work, since it has to find your site to show any custom page?) Please forgive me if this is a repeat question, but my lack of knowledge in doing this has possibly left me without the correct search terms to search on, although I have tried searching SE, as well. asp.net web-config webmatrix custom-error-pages asp.net-webpages share|improve this question asked Jul 30 '13 at 21:42 VoidKing 2,54243063 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote accepted Add the following to your web.config file within the

A custom 404 error page, on the other hand, is a specially-designed page that delivers the same message but in a more helpful, user-friendly way that honors the brand. It can tell the visitor what’s going on and what to do next. It can even be crafted to save a sale. This post walks through the steps of setting up a custom error 404 page if you’re a small business administering your own IIS server either directly or through a hosting provider. How to Identify Your Web Server Photo by Marc Dubois (CC by ND-2.0) There are several popular (and many more besides) software programs used to store and host web pages, called servers. If you’re not sure which server you use, contact your web host and they’ll tell you. If they say it’s Apache — and it very well might be since it’s the most widely used server on the web — leave this post and read How to Configure a Custom 404 Error Page — Apache
