soundcard, which might not be perfectly accurate. This results in the recording being misplaced by a few milliseconds, which can cause timing issues. The easiest way to set it up is using Live's built in lesson on it. Go to the Help Menu and select Help View. Under Lessons, click Show All Built-In Lessons. Then, under Hardware Setup click Driver Error Compensation. The lesson ableton buffer size comes with a live set which you'll use to calibrate your Driver Error Compensation. Basically, what you do is use a cable to connect your soundcard's output to its own input, then record Live's output back into itself. With DEC set to 0ms, you'll see the recording is displaced. You find out by how much it's been displaced, and that's the value you enter in your Driver Error Compensation. 5 years ago | 1 comment wkrotz contribution 1 answer 1 vote received 1 vote Should a negative value be entered for driver error compensation value - or should be reset to zero then?i determined "-1.63ms" exactly following the live built in lesson (with a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 setting call "1ms" for 64samples, and an acer laptop with USB 3).entering a negative value is possible, and the result is two identical curves. but is a negative value (look ahead into future ...) productive and good - or should it be better left at tero value then? 2 years ago | 0 comments Unit27 contribution 2 answers 2 votes received 1 vote A negative

Sign in to disable this ad I'm trying to set the Driver Error Compensation in the Focusrite edition of Ableton 8.2.1, and it has been a somewhat tedious process. The tutorial on copying the waveform has been tricky, because the waveform has been cut off at the top and bottom, like it has clipped, but there's no indication of redlining in the software. Ultimately, I've had to compare an incomplete waveform to the original and I'm recording with trial and error to eliminate the latency for recording an electric guitar. It would help me get there faster if I can get some people to post their Driver Error Compensation settings in ms in the Options->Preferences.
