Someone the other day had it when they upgraded to WMP11.If you just want iTunes to play your MP3 files, the simplest thing is to select an MP3 file then right click and chose "Open With"Then "Coose Program..." and select iTunes and make sure the check box " Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked.
