If it gives the same message when trying to save the project in "my documents", then most probably the compatibility settings for the editor are wrong - or your user access rights have been limited by an admin on that PC. He claims he has not done/changed anything (!) but now can't rename new folders. You can create a new folder OK in http://www.swish-sftp.org/ticket/194 Windows Explorer (XP), but when you right click on the name of a new folder, the usual "rename" option just does not appear, and it is also not possible to click on the name and change it, as you how to normally can. I've tried making sure the folder is not "read only", but am struggling to think what else might have happened to cause this. Any bright ideas out there gratefully received! Jack Hackett, Feb 24, 2011 #3 PurpleHelen Thread Starter Joined: Feb 8, 2010 Messages: 16 Hi Guys - thanks for the suggestions, but it is still a problem. F2 does nothing, and the thread didn't help. We are not getting any error message, it is just that when you right click on a folder name, the "rename" option is just not in the drop-down list. It's not greyed out or anything like that, it just isn't there! The other option, of clicking on the folder name and editing it, doesn't work either. I'm baffled! Helen. Can you rename anything at all, or is it just New Folders that you are having issue with? are these New Folders on the Desktop? I am thinking this may be a folder permissions issue = http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/security/permissions.mspx = http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727008.aspx = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308419 = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308419#4 = Although for Vista it may still be applicable for XP, this tutorial may be able to help you fix the New Folder so that you can rename them again http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69837-new-folder.html Set a system Restore Point before trying the reg file fix . For example New>Text Document returns the same error. Are you sure it ever worked on XP? The 'workaround' is to use the Windows XP task pane. These get hidden if you use 'classic' view. Unless I'm mistaken, it always did, didn't it? comment:5 follow-up: ↓ 6 Changed 4 years ago by injuhneer@gmail.com File>New Folder worked previously as the workaround. Task Pane still works. Why the change to minor? This problem indicates failure under two fundamental UI functions. comment:6 in reply to: ↑ 5 Changed 4 years ago by alamaison Replying to injuhneer@…: File>New Folder worked previously as the workaround.
