There seems to be some problems with my Wii and its abiliy http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4069/~/error-message%3A-unable-to-read-the-disc-%2F-disc-could-not-be-read to read discs. Starting a while back it would stop reading discs and instead give a message akin to "Unable to read the disc. Please refer to the Wii operations manual". I tried several other games, but to no avail. It even started giving a message that reads something like "An error has occurred. Press the http://www.gamespot.com/forums/nintendo-fan-club-1000001/unable-to-read-the-disc-error-27531885/ Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn off the Wii console and refer to the Operations Manual.", however I cannot seem to find anything helpful in the manual. I have tried searching the internet but have not found anything useful -- until yesterday. I was told I could try cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner, and so I did. Now it is able to recognize the game inserted, but if I try to start the game, the Wii will try to load it, but will give the error message "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn off the Wii console and refer to the Operations Manual." after a while. Now, interesting to note, this concerns only Wii games, as it plays GameCube games with absolutely no problems. Would any of you have any helpful things to say? Does anything need to be replaced? Is there anything wrong with the lens? I appreciate all and any help. tl;dr:

AC adapter reset¶ Most power issues with the Wii can be fixed unable to read by resetting the AC adapter. Unplug the AC adapter from both the outlet and the console and let it sit for at least 2 minutes. Plug both ends back in, making sure that the adapter is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector or power strip. Bad power supply¶ The power supply to your Wii could have gone bad, which would keep the console from receiving power. Connect a known working power supply to your console. If it works with the new power supply, then your power supply has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Bad wall outlet¶ It is possible that the outlet the console is plugged into is bad. Plug another device such as a lamp into it to check it. Also, be sure that the outlet is not controlled by a wall switch. If it is, make sure that the switch is on.
