I have a DVD-R that i KNOW https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-copy-dvds-with-read-errors has a read error on it. It freezes at a certain point in the movie and if i fast forward past it will continue on with the movie. I want to make a copy of the DVD-R in question but I can't figure a way to do it. I've tried making a straight duplicate of the DVD-R to another DVD-R but it won't let me because of that read error. Is there a http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/93865-DVD-with-Read-Error-Copy way that I can rip the vob files and take out the bad sectors that are causing the error? Or Any other way that you can think of to get around it would be most appreciated. Thanks, Brougham Quote 8th Mar 200313:53 #2 brougham View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date : Jun 2002 Location : Vancouver, Canada Is there a program out there where i could capture it frame by frame to even an mpeg and skip the bad frames? It's 8 seasons with 5 discs per season leaving me about 40 discs to rip. The first http://www.percontra.net/archive/2corruptcddvdrecovery.htm season went fine, no problems at all. The second season I had issues with discs 2 and 3 stopping in the middle due to a read error. The third season did exactly the same how to thing on disc 4. After that, the rest of the entire box set ripped completely without any issues and no errors. I thought there might be an issue with my DVD drive but I only had that problem on just a few discs. I also tried using a portable copy of DVD Decryptor on those bad discs and it seems that, after many retries, it was able to read error copying rip it successfully. My question is, is it normal for some DVDS to not rip properly because the way they are made? Otherwise it would seem the issue is either with my drive or software and I can't see what those issues would be. Thanks! The only thing I notice is that DVD Decrypter will retry the same sector over 100+ times till it gets it. Slow but surely. Also, I have not used DVD Decrypter in a while. Was is the best setup? I know there are some additional plug ins that help with the decryption of some of the later protections. J8son, Sep 23, 2012 #
file to her desktop, she would get the same error, informing herthe file could not be copied due to some type of corruption. She wanted to know if I could possibly help. I opened the cd in my own cd-rom drive and tried copying the file she was having a problem with and I realized it couldn't be copied on my system either. Therefore, in all likelihood, itwas the cd itself that was problematic, not the system, player or other hardware. The error received when trying to copy the file was a cyclic redundancycheck (CRC) error. In fact, this is the most common error encountered with cd/dvd access or copying problems and I knew that such a problem was often caused by a dirty or scratched disc, so I examined the surface of the cd and just as I suspected, it was marked. It had a distinct smudgeprinton it. I cleaned the whole cd and after doing so, voila! ,I was able to copy the needed file from the cd to my hard drive.I informed her that the problem was fixed and when I told her it was just a matter of cleaning the disc, she was surprised that the solutionwas so simple and never thought such a confoundingproblem could be caused by a less than pristine condition cd. The fact is that cds and dvds can be very finicky. Just one speck of dirt or a hairline scratch can cause problems in accessing your data or the disc itself. These marks can make it difficult for the drive's laser beam to properly read the disc. Fortunately, dirty discs can be cleaned. Scratches can be more problematic, though, in many cases they can be repaired. With scratches, the severity of the problemdepends muchon the type and location of the scratch.Scratches that run across the disc or along the track, as opposed to those that run in a straight line from rim to center, can be the most difficult to repair. These type of problems are unique to cd and dvd media because the surfaces of the discs are bare and exposed, offering no protection against dust, finger prints, smudge, dirt and scratches. An exception is most dvd-ram d
