Aug 26, 2012 #1 carlmart Limp Gawd Messages: 450 Joined: Sep 17, 2006 I have an HP 1000 which I regularly refill. I don't believe in or will buy any inkjet printer that will not allow that. It's been about 10 times that hp printer I refilled this cartridge, but now I continuously get a warning that the cartridge is counterfeit and it doesn't let me go on with my printing. Is there any way to bypass that block and print on? You can set the date back on your PC to a time before the printer stopped working, depending on the OS and driver setup that will allow you to print. 2. Many HP printers store their cartridge expiration timestamp and use an onboard button cell battery to remember if your cartridge has 'expired' and hence trigger the counterfit m
about HP Ink Challenge Assignment #1 you know that HP gave me 2 printers. One I outfitted with genuine HP ink cartridges and the other I outfitted with HP ink cartridges that I got refilled. There were supposed to be 5 challenges to perform, but my challenge came to an abrupt end during Challenge #2. How did it happen? Let me tell you. Challenge #2 The task was to print 20 copies of a colorful document. I picked a random one off the SD card they sent me and threw the print job at both printers. I felt like quite the mad scientist with 2 printers cranking away full bore, but I soon noticed some issues. The document I chose had lots of color, so it was taxing the color cartridges pretty hard. Over the course of the print job I could see a noticeable degradation in quality. The easiest way to show that is the following sequence of picture. First I'll show you the documents from the genuine HP ink cartridge printer: First copy looks good. Still going strong at #5 Blue is starting to struggle. Green starting to struggle now. Blue looks about dead. Green looks sickly and red is starting to fade too. Black holding strong Now let's have a look at how the refilled HP ink cartridges held up over the same task: Some banding from the get-go. Holding steady Blue is taking a huge dive by 10 and green is starting to fade too. Continuing to degrade. Looks terrible by this point. Only bright spot is the black ink. At this point I've obviously given both sets of cartridges a little more than they can handle. Interestingly enough, I start getting this message from the printer with the genuine cartridges about how it has detected counterfeit cartridges. At this point I gave both printers the night off before coming back to print the Every Week Documents. The Next Day Next day both printers are back to work. No more counterfeit cartridge messages from the genuine ink printer but I did have to print a new alignment page in the refilled cartridge printer before I could get both printers spitting out the Every Week Documents. The EWD look just the same as the first weeks. The genuine HP ink ones looks perfect. The refill ink ones have some slight banding on the solid color blocks. Attempting Task #3 A week later when I went to perform task #3 I got the dreaded "Counterfeit Tri-Color Cartridge" message on my printer with refilled ink cartridges. I went through several attempts to revive the cartridges, and it even printed a couple alignment sheets that looked fine, but in the end the cartridges just wouldn't go. I felt somewhat like a fai
