my own searching the web.For the past couple of days, my happy little HP 6180 Printer has been asking for new yellow juice. I finally got the chance to go http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/50063 pick up a new cartridge and much to my dismay, when I installed it, I http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/54675 got a message saying Ink System Failure... something something... refer to documentation.Well, the documentation had no references to this kind of error. I tried everything the website suggested, unplugging it, taking out the ink cartridges, starting the whole thing up and reinstalling and the error just appeared again and again.I looked online and was dismayed to find that people said that hp printer they had gotten refurbished models sent to them because they couldn't get tech support at HP to help them... OR that they were charged big bucks for tech support. My husband took over at that point (I am normally the geek but it was a long day) he got online with a tech support person and she talked him through fixing it. it ever since. I did the chat with a tech from HP(live from Bombay, it's "Sherry"!!) and who would have guessed it she was no help. Her only idea after just telling me what was in the FAQ section of the mannual was to take it back to where I bought it from! Does anyone have any ideas what to do or even what causes this error? Thanks for the help! Respond to this 1 Yes, it is a known problem & if what I say next doesn't help then take it back for another one. --- The ink system has to pump up or be primed to work & yours just did not complete it on its own. Have you inserted all 6 inks ? They need to be in to have ink to prime the machine. Try holding down the ok -- cancel -- black -- color buttons with 4 fingers while at the same time powering the unit off. Keep them held down till it is off. Then turn it back on normally & it should try to do "Maintenance" & you hear a whirling noise --- that is the ink pump spinning to try & pump in ink to the print head. If all fails you may have a bad printer out of the box. If no one helps you then call HP & ask for an "all in one case manager" (877)917-4380 Ext.95 by unknown on Mar 7, 2008 at 9:35am Add comment Please sign in to comment Thanks Dave, my 7280 was just 2 months out of warranty and I had the ink system error OPxc18a0101 which appeared to coincide with the black cartridge running out, but replacement and switch on/off did not work. The 4 finger solution allows a complete reset and the problem is solved. - Anonymous I cant thank you enough ! advise worked well - I had just moved office and re connecting all computers printers etc and was ready to print of invoicing when ink system failier occurred error code 0xc18a0106 the pressing of the buttons you suggested worked and printer when through a reboot and all works as normal again --- yipee - momno 1 Thanks for the fast reply. When you say hold down the ok, cancel, etc buttons, which black and color buttons are you talking about? by unknown on Mar 7, 2008 at 9:40am Add comment Please sign in to comment I just had this exact issue with my C7280. I called HP Tech support, got a body in Bangalore or someplace, and was pleasantly surprised that they were prompt and knowledgeable, and solved the issue very quickly after transferring my call one time to a hardware support expert. Here are the details. Got the Ink System Failure message. The error code shows
